.223 WSSM Any Ideas??

if wondered about wssm myself --never had any = i have packed powed reloading 223 but reloadind 22-250 i thought you get the most get up go and wieght --so i just never paid any attension to them would like to hear more about wssm

It's not offered in any factory rifle anymore. It is considerably faster than a 223, it will beat a 22-250 by roughly 150fps. If you do buy it you may run into trouble with light bullets, the wssm came out with a 10 twist barrel, I had problems with the light varmint bullets disitegrating mid air. I have a super shadow, light little gun and it is pretty accurate with the 53gr tsx. It also pushed the 75gr vld well.

What model is the rifle you are looking at? push feed or controlled round feed?

Blazing fast .22 Cal. I think the fastest non-wildcat if I'm not mistaken off the top of my head. Have not shot a .223 WSSM, but my friend has a rifle in .243WSSM. It is a wicked little round, had enough power to down a bull elk at 200yds with one shot.

Homely cartridge though, very funny looking. And I suspect barrel life will be shorter (compared to a standard .223) as expected with that hot of a round.

The rifle was a Super shadow. I think it was a controlled feed...not a 100 percent sure. I seen her on www.thegundealer.net. That was a couple of days ago. I think I'm going to lean towards ethier the model 70 featherweight 22 250 or the x bot hunter 223. The 223 wssm is a harder to find caliber for ammo. One of the guys told me at the local gun shop that it was going to be harder to find ammo in the future. Thanks for the info. Any ideas on the model 70 or the x bolt?

I had for a number of years a rifle in 25wssm. It did not do anything that another cartridge dident do but they were a cool little round. If you dont reload leave it alone but if you do you will enjoy it.
