I was out on a predation call this am when this unfortunate soul showed up unannounced. He was in a harvested canola field and the sharp stalks made him hop over them. This did not make for accurate shooting so I let him, get some distance, well he went a little further than I had hoped well 200 yards further so I estimated the range at 350 yards and took a very calm shot. I immmediately heard a solid hit and 3 spins and hes down. There was a loonie sized entrace with no exit. 50 gr Ballistic tip at 3900 f/s muzzle vel. I gave 5" elevation for the shot. I will say that the WSSM is significantly flatter than my midd of the road 22-250 loads. I hope to contionue to thin the herd the rest of the winter.

Rifle is a Win 70 black Shadow. I like the handy weight/length, but could loose the crappy bums on the stock. I floated the barrel and lightened the trigger.

You cruel, insensitive heartless person....... you didn't even ask any of us to come along :D Way to shoot!

How's the .223wssm shoot compared to a plain.223? Obviously a lot faster, is there much of a recoil difference? I've got a .270wsm I really like, but it kicks worse than my 7mm mag.

what is the point in shooting foxes and yotes????
can you eat them????
or do you just take the hide????
talk to ya all later
Riley

Well you don't knowingly eat them, although I've seen more than a few news clips about a few buffet style restaurants that use them....

I've never been fox hunting, but every one of my coyote pelts is skinned, salted, stretched and sold. I'm also an upland game bird hunter, so it's also a bit of a population check for the predators to help out the pheasant and partridge. Anyone who's been hunting with me knows I harvest a lot fewer birds than the rampant coyote population in my area.

I'm with Riley, what do yall do with the carcass? My buddies property has a bunch of yotes running around and I was thinkin of goin' after them. Where do you sell the hide, is there a season? Maybe one of the CGN nation might come along and give some tips...
P.S. I agree... nice shot placement:)

Nice shot on the Yote B/R... and nice rifle as well... many naysayers are predicting the demise of the WSSM's... I predict the only demise will be the demise of many varmints!!

There's not much of a carcass to a coyote. We leave them for the other scavengers. I sell my pelts to Halford Hide in Edmonton.

Scope is a B7L 3000 3-12 I have had for years,
This is the 4th yote to fall to this unit, though I shot 7 during deer season with my 6.5-06
Recoil is stil negligible, but muzzle blast is loud and noise is almost on par with a 243/25-06
