does any of the major manufacturers make a 223 in a 1:7 twist? I have been looking for one for a while now and cant find one. I want one for shooting them 75 and 80 gr bullets.

Savage's were the only choices I came up with without going to a custom barrel.

I have a 110FP and it will stabalize the 75's no problem, the 80's and up, not so sure.

I think the Tikka T3 Super Varmint and Tactical models have a 1/8 twist in 223 Rem.

Savage 9 twist will happily stabilize the 75gr Amax which is a wonderful bullet for shooting up to/beyond 1000m.

Stevens 200 is the least expensive rifle that can push this bullet to 1000yds.

My VLP was around $850

Don't believe the Hype over the 1:9s -stick to your original idea of having a 1:7.

My Savage 12VLP .223 with a 1:7 barrel was $829.95 at W.S.S.

No, unfortunately I haven't had time to work up any handloads yet. Just factory stuff so far. Hope to get my hands on some 80gr Amax bullets and work up some loads this spring.
