Ive got a Remmy 700 SPS Tactical in .223, 1 in 9 twist.
The most accurate load I have tested is 50gr Nosler BT pushed by 25.5gr of Benchmark.
I have also tested the PRIVI brand bullets in 50gr, they are a spire pont. They were a relatively accurate out fo my Remmy 700, about 3/4moa, and they worked really nice in my AR. They are relativley inexpensive (about $150/K if memory serves) and should work for a hunting bullet and are also very good at the range, they are also available in a FMJ in the same weight (if you still want to try that out). Contact Mystic Precision if you would like to give them a try.
You have already recieved some sound advice from other members here, I would reccomend you find a bullet you can live with both on and off the range, there is a bunch less dickin around that way. You will be constatnly re-zeroing your optics if you are switching from one kind of ammo to another.
Cheers!
