Anyone have any 226 Equinox's available for sale in Canada yet?

And by "available for sale in Canada" I mean, in stock, ready to take money, start transfer and ship as soon as appoved available?

Sig seemingly has an unlimited number of "special" models these days: Navy, Blackwater, SAS, Homeland Security, Equinox, various guns of the month, etc. On sigarms.com, the Equinox is identified as a "custom shop" gun, while the Backwater, for instance, is listed a "limited edition". I guess the difference is that the Equinox will be manufactured in limited amounts for an extended period of time and is available across the model range (P220/226/229), while the Blackwater is a one time run and only available in the P226 form. Hope that helps.

It's a smart marketing move on their part.

It caters to collectors and those who would buy them because the "blah blah" force uses them.

And all of a sudden you NEED one because production is limited. ;)

NEED it because it's limited? Pfft.

I friggen want it because I think it's a gorgeous looking pistol and want to put a Sig in my collection! :)

That being said, I suspect you are correct and there are those that will NEED every single "special" one out there.

Not that there is anything wrong with that! :D

I'm on the waiting list at TSE for a Blackwater. I contacted Wolverine about one, they said they could get one, but is was a lot more $$$$ than the quoted TSE price. I'd imagine the could probably get an Equinox as well.

Ok,

I am not a Sig owner yet, but was interested in a P226.

Now I am completely confused as what is what anymore.

I was looking for the P226 that has the frame milled out of a single piece. Cannot find that model anymore .. They all look very nice, but there are so many options and models that it is almost impossible to compare them.

It would really be nice to see them side by side, where you can handle and compare them.

On the net they all look great, ... but its alot of $$$$ for a purchase when you cannot get to hold it first.

Its not like I get a 10 day return policy..

All P226s have milled frames and slides (older guns had folded slides but that was a long time ago). There are two basic types of P226: regular and all-stainless. The stainless version has stainless slide and frame, and the metal surface is unfinished ("in the white"). The regular model has a stainless slide and an anodized aluminum alloy frame. It comes in several versions: all-black (Nitron finish on the slide), two-tone (unfinished or, in the case of older guns, nickel plated slide) and Equinox (same as all-black but with some polished flat surfaces on the slide and wooden grips). There is also the limited edition Blackwater, which is the same gun as the all-black save for fancy grips and nitesights.

Personally, I would recommend buying the all-stainless version. It looks great, the extra weight absorbs recoil nicely and it is virtually impossible to scratch. The only downside is that you can’t use it in Production IPSC.
