Such a cute lil round lol

A couple things bug me.
With the BR case being a .473 and using a small rifle primer, how are you guys priming your brass? I use the RCBS hand primers and all the shell holders that do .473 use a large rifle primer, so the rod/hole is the large size and the small primers use the small one. Im finding that its very doable to seat the primers that way, but I think the large rod in the hand primers is hitting the bottom the brass and maybe not seating the small primers in all the way. Anyone have any thoughts on that? Or just let the paper to the talking kind of thing?

Another thing that I ran into, is the seating stem on my seater is denting my bullets when seating. You can kind of see this in the pic above. This is less of a concern as Ive already kind of reamed out the stem and its has gotten better already. Thinking of picking up a Forster micrometer seater die anyways.

Going to take out tomorrow again and throw some rounds down range at some steel without that much of a load workup and see what shes like.

I picked up a Mighty Armoury decaying die for my 6BR (smaller / super tough pin which has been great so far) - https://www.mightyarmory.com/collec...hty-armory-shorty-bull-decapping-die-in-stock

For dies I went Whidden and I am impressed.

LOL, that Mighty Armoury die is 3.5x more expensive than the Lee Universal Decap Die. I've been using a Lee die for prob 30 years and have never broken a pin. The people on the Mighty Armoury page talking about breaking multiple pins are doing it wrong .... or it BS made up "reviews" from the company marketing dept.

For the price of Whidden dies you certainly should be impressed.

You do you. I am happy with my choices and avoided the poor house while doing so.

Side note, I also have a lee decapping die but I wont use for the smaller flash hole on my brass:

https://www.6mmbr.com/6mmbr.html#:~:text=Lapua 6BR brass comes with, pin will be too big.

Decapping
Before you can reload a case, you need to get the primer out. Lapua 6BR brass comes with a 1.50mm (.059") flashhole. Even the typical "small" decapping .0625" decapping pin will be too big. Yes, you might press it through the flashholes a few times, but evenutally you'll jam that .0625" pin and it will break. What's the answer? When you order 6BR sizing dies from Harrell's, Forster, or Redding, they should supply a decapping rod with .055-.057" tip diameter. But, we've found, sometimes all three companies don't do that and you have to call and ask for the right diameter. With something under .058" you'll have no trouble decapping those cases.

I just took my JC 22BR barrel out today for the first time. I'm using Alpha brass necked down. My fire form load was a 69 sierra match king with 29.5 grains of reloader 15. I am impressed with the round so far and it looks like the barrel will be a shooter. Shot 10 - 5 round groups and the average was .633". Going to start load development shortly

What kind of speeds are you seeing? (I know the barrel will speed up but I am curious anyhow)

I have an itch for a 22BR and it would be a great fit with my Zeus QC.

My labradar wasn't consistently picking up my shots and I didn't use my rat trigger. But I saw 3150 ish. I'll be switching to varget, CCI 450s and Berger 80.5s for my go to load hopefully if the gun likes those bullets. My barrel is 26", 1:7 twist. It seems like a great round. Pairs well with my 6br and now I will be getting JC to cut me a 30br with a reamer I picked up

Darn, I could use one of these in my life for sure;)

Went out again today and it was a fun day, but I need to lean to relax more though. Sometimes I fight the crosshairs when zoomed in at 100yds and I always mess a couple groups up.

Right now Im just using the Redding deluxe die set and they seem to be working pretty good, besides the seater stem, but I almost have that worked out already. Just have to take that dremel bit to it one more time and she'll be good.

I pretty much have the same barrel. JCC 26" 7tw. I just sent him some 88 ELDs so he could thoat it just right. Doing Varget CCI 450s and 88 ELDs.

I got some more exploring to do in the future around the 28.5/28.6 and found something at 29.2/29.3. Going to look at that when I get some more rounds down range. Right now just having fun shooting 28.6. Took the magneto out today to get something to plug into the Kestrel. Not going to win any Fclass matches at a 1000 but can ring some steel like I want to.
