was at the range with a buddy on the weekend he was using up lots of old old ammo he showed me these crimped over bullets we thought they were blanks, shot some at 20yds and no holes moved target closer about 10feet lots of little holes turns out they were #12 shot anybody have any experience with these rounds? what type of range do these have? do they cause damage to the barrel? :kickInTheNuts::kickInTheNuts:

The intent and purpose of the 22lr shot was designed for snakes at spitting distance. Seriously. I patterned some out of an LR and Magnum, and they are good for about 10 feet at best with the pattern all over a normal, 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. The pellets get caught in the rifle grooves and open up like crazy. They bounced off a birch tree when I took a shot at one.

I have found them to not work very well at all. Can't comment on if they do any barrel damage (not that I know of) but for hunting they did not work very well at all. I would use either a standard .22 cartridge or a shotgun.

I have a Lakefield 22lr smooth bore. It holds a pretty good pattern. Shooting these rounds through a standard rifle doesn't work very well.

most semi's wont cycle them because they are too long when the case mouth crimp open's.... tried a few in a 10/22 and that's what we noticed...

there not for snake defense alltho that would be a good use for them... they are made to shoot mice/vermin indoor's and not damage warehouse product's in cardboard boxes or put large hole's in drywall or finished building's.... a buddy of mine used to shoot mice running thru his living room from the couch with a single shot cooey with excellent result's.... you can still buy them, i think CCI make's them?

Your Browning BL has a tube mag, the company might be worried the CCI .22 shot cartridges with the plastic shot capsule might break and fill the innards of your Browning with tiny lead pellets. They also may be a little long for the action and the plastic capsule could be damaged with the same results. Otherwise leading is probably the worse that can happen. Every thing I have read says they work reasonably well with a smooth bore .22 and are only useful in revolvers on snakes at very close range. I have never had any success using them in any of my .22 rifles.

The 10" charred section of carpet and 3" hole in my wall says otherwise.

used to call it 22 rat-shot- just the thing to screw up somebody's grouping when his head was getting too big-
