i've been playing around at the range will my barrels cool on my other rifles and have been tring 100 yard shots with my 22lr with open sights. If there isn't much of a breeze i can do 12in groups was wonder if anyone else is doing this and what kind of results there getting ?

With open sights, I was getting about 3 inch groups ant 100m with a Cooey sureshot, federal 525 bulk ammo. I have not really tried to push this rifle much harder than that, and it was not in ideal conditions either. I's sure someone here can beat that hands down.

depending on quality of sights they could give very accurate results. I have been shooting my old beat up Lee Enfield in 303 british and my groups were routinely inside 3" or better. Match quality peep sights with matching size bull should be as accurate as scope if not better.

hah! I had my BSA 12/15 out the other day, it was a nice calm sunny evening, not much wind; I tried it out at 50 yards (got some 3/4" 5 shot groups in the black after some sight adjustments), then tried it out at 100 yards with the sights set to 50 (didn't have time to figure out come ups to 100), I was using the Birchwood Casey shootnsee targets, I managed a 5 shot group that was 1-1/2 inches in height and width at that range, I was using some Eley club ammo that I had, and was shooting from a bench (Cabela's Granite rest). Brutus, the rear sight on my rifle is quite different than yours, it mounts right on the rear of the receiver. Best regards Tony.

Here's a short clip on the BSA model 12 as Brutus has in his possession.

Tony, your BSA is in beautiful shape. I own a Model 15 myself and love the way it shoots. You must own one of the earlier Model 12s because all the ones I have ever seen had a Parker Hale 7A and 2A sights on them.

ive shot a some stuff at about 120 yrds with my savage mkII-f. but i have a scope so maybe that rules me out. i can shoot golf balls very easily at 80 or 90 yards as well.
i use fed 525 packs, 36gr copper plated hollow points.
my scope is a piece of junk from banadian tire i think its only 4x

Eyesight not being what it used to be I don't use the iron sights past 50 meters and drop on the scope. BSA International MK 111

Thats my setup too. Barrel on the Sureshot/75 nearly long enough to touch the target, shoots well enough though.

Is the scope offset?
No, they re not offset, they run right in line with the barrels of the rifles they are on .
RTB( return to battery) scopes ride in their rings, and are kept from canting with what is called a Pope rail, likely because Harry Pope designed the first one?
Before that you had to make sure they were centred properly.
They can be returned with a spring, but most savvy shooters leave the recoil spring free and pull the scope back by had.....
They are adjusted by micrometer barrels on the rear mount.
