Hi Fellow Gunnutz,

I'm purchasing a CZ 455 American .22LR rifle along with the interchangeable .17HMR barrel for longer distance shooting.

I am now looking for a scope that will be capable of providing the range for both barrels/distance.

I'm hoping that when I switch from the .22lr barrel to the .17hmr barrel, I only have to 'tweak' the scope with several 'clicks' and have them noted so that I can revert back to the correct settings when I interchange the barrels.

I'm assuming it'll be a 3x9 40mm, but I'd figured I'd ask you folks and get your opinion and also if BDC would be of benefit/value.

As for price point, I'm willing to spend up to $250 but there's some room to increase that if necessary.

Thanks in advance!

Just went through the same thing. Bought the exact same combo. I ended up with a Mueller APV 4.5-14x40. Decent following with the rimfire community, fair glass, and decent adjustments. Best of all the AO can be focused down to 10 yards. From amazon to my door it was 165$. Great deal. I figured with the 17 it would be nice to have a little more magnification.

I have a Banner 6-24 Dusk till Dawn on mine. Love it. Just a slight sight in. Love the mil dot. Shooting out to 300 with crazy hold over.

I had my cz452 .22 shooting 200 metres yesterday and had lots of adjustment getting there with my mueller 4.4-14x40 APT. It tracks and returns to zero better than I hoped. It has a 30mm tube, a 1" tube may not have the adjustment to do the same.

That's awesome!

Good to know someone else went down the same road.
The 10yd min is huge!

Thanks for the feedback!

Glad yours works. I had to send my new Mueller APT back as the cross hairs were not 90 deg. Would not move more than 3 " up on full adjustment off turrets .Would not hold zero after adjusting turrets. Cheap Chinese junk. My savage mark ii bv now wears a new vortex 4-16Ă—50 with real warranty.

You know where you vortex is made right?!?

Ya I'm debating between the Vortex and Mueller as well, Vortex's warranty can't be beat. Maybe your Mueller scope was missed in quality control, perhaps a lemon?

When you have your magnification set at 4.4x, do you find it too strong for close range shooting when using the .22lr barrel? let's say ~25yds?
I think the 14x magnification for the .17hmr barrel would more than suffice

I have a 4-14 on my 17 and had one on a 22 (took it off now)....if you want this to be a target rifle, I personally would like more than 14x at 100 yards with my 17...I was surprised when I shot another 17 with a 6-24 and my groups did tighten with more consistency

Lots of good cheap .22 scopes available these days. Honestly, you are probably not getting any benefit spending more than 150$

Bushnell 3-9 x 40
DOA 600 reticule
Sighted in for .20gr CCI/v-max @ 100 yds.

Can be found for less than 250$ Easily (179.00 Cambodian Tire)

Absolutely incorrect. The exact same factors play in to a scope on a rimfire rifle as applies to a centerfire rifle, except for recoil. In all honesty, you are barely getting a usable scope at $150. Most people just don't know any better...

Yah that would be my luck.I'm not buying rifles or scopes online anymore.Too much hassel if there is a problem.I went with the APT originally from the recomendations on here. After the dissapointment I went to Grouse river and paid $319 for the Vortex and yes its probably made in the Phillipines although it says nothing on the box.At the very least Vortex stands behind their products. If you don't believe me go into Muellers site and read their warranty fine print ,has lots of lop holes to deny warranty.
