22LR Ammo for use in 10/22

Replace the rear pin with a bolt buffer and it won't be an issue...

I haven't had any problems with HV ammo and a radiused bolt. The holes for the recoil stop/buffer pin are as tight as ever after thousands of rounds of HV ammo. I don't think the bolt hits the stop hard enough to cause damage, even if the bolt velocity is a little higher.

The best "varmint" rounds for a .22 are the CCI Quik-Shok segmented HP rounds. These are pre-fragmented, so they break into 3 pieces upon impact. The hyper velocity ones are essentially pre-fragmented stingers. There is also a subsonic version that anchors even large groundhogs in one shot when you aim for the chest cavity.

I just took Scotch brite to my bolt and the inside of my receiver. It smoothed it out nice and I can cycle everything flawlessly.
I shoot subsonics, federal bulk, yellow jackets, rem target, win super X...etc.

If its not cycling then you are having too much friction.

LOL

Common gimmie a break, you knew what I meant. :D

50 or 100 or 500 rounds. :p

well Ive seen some 50 packs 4-10 bucks.. (shorts the most) and for 100 packs they seem to start at arounf 9-12 and 500 packs cheap is 23-29 (some are 525)

Tried out my 10/22 just the past weekend with some old PMC, first gen CCI Velocitor, CCI Stinger, Winchester Super X, Remington Yellow Jacket and Remington Viper. Used the Ruger rotary mag for them all with no mechanical problems at all. Heck of a fun gun and easy to run through a lot of ammo.

Stingers were actually the most accurate out of my 10/22. And with extremely positive ejection to go along with the ‘blam’. I’m going to try to stick with Stingers for target/plinking. Last time I bought a brick at Le Baron, I think it was $56. We’ll have to see how much it is when they actually get some in again.

Federal ammo bought at Canadian Tire......$3.99 for 50/rounds and $31.99 for 525/rounds. Sadly the price recently went up $10 from what they used to be, still not a bad deal tho. I use these for plinking and they are pretty good and are not as dirty as Winchester bulk ammo is I find.

I used that cheap wallmart winchester ($18-500rd) ammo and i hated it, but gun fed them no prolbems but they just sounded weak and i didnt link my accurcy. i usally stick with the american eagle ($25-500), never a prolbem and they work great

winchester 333

I have found the walmart winchester 333 works very well in my 10/22's, as far as accuracy and performance goes. The hollow points work very well on gophers, as opposed to the federal 525 hp bulk packs that don't.
Its not "dirty" like the winchester HPHV bulk 500 hp, and is the cheapest around here.
I'd try that first.

I just bought a brick of Winchester super x standard (or high im not sure) velocity and plan on heading up to the range after work to try out my new 10/22.

Anyone shot this before?

I was shooting Remington yellow jackets through my 10/22 HB w/ stock receiver... out of 50 i'd say 10 or so got pinched tips and i'd have to get frustrated and clear it...quite annoying. It shoots federals like a champ tho.
