Is some of the .22LR ammo that's out there now that is "made specifically for semi-automatics" worth the extra cost?

Is it really that much improved to consider paying the same kind of money for 350 rounds V. 500(+) for regular bulk pack stuff from any manufacturer?

I haven't tried them yet. I find that the american eagle has no FTF and FTE. And at $275 for 5000 rounds. I can't complain. Maybe I'll try some this weekend and give a verdict.
I'm also interested in others findings.

27.50$ a brick for bulk .22, no thank you! (in case pricing too)

OP, are you talking about the federal automatch in 325 round boxes in the white smaller bricks?

If your talking the fancy Tactical 22LR by Winchester, I wouldn't buy it (it's 40gRN rebadged). From what I recollect, any round nose HV 22LR would work the best seeing that most problem come from feeding of the round into the chamber. As well as any FTF from the real cheap stuff. My SR22 will digest just about anything but Blazers since I use a Dlask Barrel on it. But it loves the CCI mini mags the best .. 40g Round Nose, but will also shoot the .38g HPs as well.

I was shooting my friends ruger 10/22 not too long ago and his shot everything fine EXCEPT the american eagle stuff. It would not eject properly. I just bought some cci mini mag and will be trying it in the near future. I have heard nothing but good things about mini mag.

I've never had a failure in any of my semis, no matter how fussy they are with ammo when using CCI Mini Mags. That stuff fires feeds and ejects every time when I've used it, shot lots especially in my Sig Mosquito, and while mine has been good compared to others Ive seen when kept clean, those guns are known to be ammo picky.

Yes, there are a couple of different kinds out there.

I was looking at this this stuff:

AutoMatch Target Rimfire ammunition is specifically designed for use in semi-automatic firearms. It provides reliable feeding and function without excessive powder and lead residue. This ammunition is new production and non-corrosive.

Myself and a bud bought 597's, and they'll run on anything but Blazers. Have not and will not bother with subsonic's - too many stories to bother trying my luck.

Someone traded me a box of Remington subsonics, they fire fine but won't cycle in my 10/22.
Another box of (gift) Remington had about 20% duds. One shell wouldn't even go IN the chamber, got stuck halfway.

Everything else has worked fine with almost 0 issues in a few thousand. I use some Federal bulk for fooling around but mostly RWS or CCI.
My 10/22 loves the RWS target @ $47 a brick.

This also shoots very well in a friend's Ruger RG pistol.

I can hardly ever find the CCI mini mags...and if I do then it is only a couple boxes at twice the price of regular. But it works great I'm my Issc m22

CCi Mini-Mags and bulk Blazers work flawlessly in all of our semi's... our DAR22's work best with CCI SV's and fortunately, SV's are also the most accurate of the cheaper ammo.

A little off topic but my cz452 is very accurate with this stuff......it was the most accurate of everything I had with me including more expensive stuff like cci subsonic, lapua standard club and lapua master m. Granted it was -10 if that makes any difference. Next time I see it locally, I'm buying a bunch of it.

Mini-mags do not fit in my DAR x-tream barrel. they will not chamber if i was to push it in with my thumb it would not eject.

I have that problem with Blazers in my Dlask with a bentz style chamber .. they will not seat fully and when they do they will not fire or eject 3 out of 4 rounds.

I bought a brick of the M-22 from Canadian Tire ($23-500). It says it's made for higher capacity magazines which would normally be the semi autos. It seems to have a hard black coating on the bullets possibly to aid in feeding ?
I still haven't had a chance to try it yet.

My older Mossberg [151M (c) takes them all in stride.
Other than Subsonics, which lack the power to fully cycle the action,
everthing I have tried in it functioned flawlessly.
Regards, Eagleye.

I shoot anything out of my 10/22 and mark III and get about 1 malfunction per 500 box in the mark 3, none in the 10/22. I don't see a point in shoot .22 unless it is dirt cheap :)

Funny, my marlin semi auto's (60ss & Papoose) cycle everything. They even cycle standard velocity, and my 60ss when clean cycles cci subsonic ammo. The only ammo I've had issues with is Remington, and that's not my guns fault.
