I'm seeing 500 round bricks of American Eagle 40gr solid for $38.40 tax in. So I bought one. Not a great price but not terrible at around 0.07 - 0.08 cents a round. What are you guys seeing? I seem to always buy a brick if I can get it for less than 40 bucks but that might just be a knee jerk reaction from before when it was hard to find and was a lot more expensive. Seems to be getting easier to find. Anyone else have a rule of thumb for buying .22lr?

Mine has less to do with price and more to do with packaging. I have started to avoid the bulk ammo boxes as the ammo doesn't seem to be as consistent. It's been my experience I end up with a lot of flyers when shooting bulk ammo but when the ammo is packaged well like CCI or Federal American Eagle currently is the ammo seems to shoot much more consistently and often can shoot box after box with no flyers.

I think 7-8 cents a round with taxes in is a great price.

My rule of thumb is 6 cents a round plus tax, and can almost never find it at that price.

I'm seeing roughly $36-45 per brick, which is (to me) too much for bulk ammo. I'm still mainly using the $21/box stuff that I've stockpiled. My only recent purchase has been Eley Force at $140/brick. The more the cost of "cheap" stuff rises, the more sense it is making to me to stockpile higher quality ammo instead.

I have enough bulk plinking ammo like the Winchester stuff to last a long time, mostly because I like more accurate .22 now, although the federal blue box isn't bad for bulk! Now I wan t CCI SV and SK standard or better, I think the trick now is to but like you buy larger caliber rounds in bulk ( not bulk boxed) so I will wait till I can get a deal on accurate ammo in bulk, like 5000 rounds for a good price! This ammo should be discounted for bulk buys, just like center fire ammo!

I'm so disappointed with the cost and availability of 22lr.
A lot of us shoot mostly 22. Too bad.
It would be nice to buy by the case instead of by the brick, but it is still overpriced.

I have purchased all of my SK Standard Plus by the case. At the time there was a price by the box, by the brick, and by the case, and I paid $495 for my last few cases a few years ago. I had around 25,000 rounds of 22lr, so I haven't purchased any since then.

Right now 22 r/f ammo is like buying fewl.
Purchase azz necessary.
Loading up ain't gonna git ya anywares but there.
We t'ain't seen nutt'n yitt.

That's a good price for SK standard, good stuff too!

^ I bought CCI Blazer a few years back for $200 per case of 5000. If I had known the price was going to double in a few short years, I'd have bought 50k rounds. With the prices of raw materials actually down a bit, I'm seeing no justification for the current prices.

I just bought 2 cases of Federal Champion 525 packs for $24/box. Bought them off a guy who had a few cases left over from like 5 years ago.

Bought 4 500's of Dynapoint at the Prince Albert Wobble Mart this evening. $160 tax included. I am not short on .22 ammo, but my shooter buddy is always whining about having no ammo. :p
