.22lr ammo questions

Hi,

Is CCI standard velocity packaged in 100 count clear plastic boxes the same as the CCI packed in paper boxes of 50. Seems to be quite a cost difference between the 2 ...... plastic boxes $7.99 per 100, paper boxes in bulk of 500 for $25.99. Oh, and how about the CCI Blazers .... where do they fit in, same again or not? (Blazers I can find for $19 per 500)

Now for the Federals, I've seen American Eagle/Federal in red boxes, do they differ from the Federals in blue packaging?

Are some rounds more prone to dirty the barrel than others .... for example, I fired approx 300 CCI (clear box package) and was amazed how clean the barrel was. After firing 200 rounds of CCI (paper box package), was surprised how dirty it was. I cleaned the barrel and shot another 100 and it looked spotless.

Hi. As daft as it sounds, plastic boxes cost more. However, standard velocity ammo is standard velocity ammo unless it uses a higher quality bullet and more QC during priming. It's more about reliability than anything else.
As with any .22 ammo, you have to try a box of as many brands as you can to find the ammo your firearm shoots best. The price of it means nothing. Some firearms will shoot the less expensive stuff as well or better than the higher end brands, but you have to try a box to see if your's likes the ammo or not. .22's are just like that.
Blazers and American Eagle are lower end brands. Nothing wrong with either if your firearm likes 'em.

true some guns are picky but for plinking it does not matter much

if you want a non picky gun get a cooey model 60 it will shoot most ammo types about minute of squirrel even .22 shorts witch was my favourite round to use for squirrel for a few years
