hi everyone, i live in the lower mainland and went to Italian Sporting Goods to buy some food for my .22s. when i got there and asked them about .22lr ammo, i was told that they were starting to run out and that the U.S. suppliers had not shipped anything in close to 3 weeks. i bought 2 bricks of the only thing they had left (winchester wildcat) but was wondering if anyone had the same problem at other stores? they said that other stores with the same supplier had the same problem.

it seems there is starting to be shortages of ammo of every kind, i dont think it will ever get to the point where you simply cant get it but the prices will be higher because as demand raises so does the price..

The same question was asked last week. Some out west have perceived a shortage, however, others seem to have no problem finding mountains of it. My observation in Ontario suggests there is absolutely no shortage whatsoever, and the prices are quite good.

all this talk about 22 shortage made me to stock myself up to my gills. only to see more and more are coming in!

Just look at the bottom of the page banner. SFRC sells Fed. Value Pack of 525 for $22.99. Good ammo and good price. knock yourself out and stop worrying.

There is still a great number of places in the USA where ammo, components and rimfire is tough if not impossible to find. I was in P&D today looking for Vmax bullets in 224, none except for 60gr. no Sierra in 224, some Speer, ZERO bulk bullets for handgun and some Win PSP 50gr for $23.00 a bag. Heads up folks things could get serious. FS

Mysticplayer had .224 50gr. Vmax a few weeks ago, I bought a box of 250 and he had lots available from his supplier. PM me if you want details and prices.

I have had better luck sourcing .22 this spring than last.

+1. Last spring I had to continually go by the local CT to see when stock had come in to avoid missing out. This year they have full shelves so far.

What does everyone consider "enough 22lr on hand" for personal supply?
1000? 5000? 10,000? More?

At least 2000 rounds each of Dynapoint GT's and Federal 525 bulk packs. I am working on finding a sweet spot with a new rifle and will also keep 2000+ on hand for that one once I find the magic brand. I know, I'm a lightweight.:D

I currently have approximately 10k of Federal, American Eagle, CCI, Winchester 333's and Dynapoints. I don't consider it enough. Enough would be as much as I could shoot in a lifetime. So basically 2k per year (that's on the low side) let's say I have 20 more years of good shooting. So at least 40k. On the high side I would think that I might go through 4k per year. So 100,000 would be where I would think to myself "Yeah, I have enough .22lr. Now I only need 5000 more rounds of .308, and 50,000 rounds of 12 gauge and I can die a happy man."

:agree:

:dancingbanana::dancingbanana: Prices are up and down but... Quantity seems to be plentiful for .22lr!! :dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

Wish i could say the same for .22WMR -- Locally it seems to be hit and miss as to who has what at a decent price...

the suppliers have lots, seem your local dealers aren't keeping their shelves stocked. Heard my local dealer place an order for 100's of k's of rounds today, everything was in stock. did clean him out of cci minimags, which he quickly reordered.

I was shooting 1000 every week for a few months in a row.. was 1 trip 1000rds.. it goes fast when you got lots :p

I noticed that ammo is getting a bit harder to find unless you only want 1 or 2 bricks or the more expensive ammo..

I'd say for me, it depends when you bought it? I have several different caliber rimfires so I have varying amounts of each in 17 HM2, 17HMR,22LR, 22Magnum. With the price of ammo right now I don't see that it makes sense to me to buy in large quantities unless you get a great buy on it. FS
