22LR ammunition

Where is the cheapest 22LR ammunition a guy can get?

Tenda or Solely Outdoors are normally my first choice for ammunition. Particularly if you spend >$300 to qualify for free shipping.
G4C or Magdump also have good prices, though shipping can be prohibitive.

Ammobin.ca can give you some insights into vendor pricing but is not an exhaustive list.

Thanks for the helpful reply

Welcome to the nuthouse rparragh, gunutz can be some of the most frugal (cheap) people around so you should fit in well.... :)

I guess some here want to be cuddled a bit first with a flowery introduction and long form question.... being penetrated immediately with a straight forward blunt force trauma question seems to have "triggered" a few people..... :)

Your looking to save as much money on ammo as you can, and some people are asking why? No doubt it's to do with the fact that less expensive bulk .22lr is not what you want if your heading to the Olympics. The sad reality is that most ammo has doubled in price along with everything else over the last 5 years or so.

Good luck on your hunt for savings and happy plinking!

I'd argue you should think beyond just the pricing of the product itself. If you live close to a gun store, I'd just go there. For example, I live close enough to Flaherty's to just go there myself for my ammo needs. Not a penny spent on having the stuff shipped to me.

Unless you shoot a lot I would say you are not going to save very much at all.

Maybe $1 savings per 50 rounds, maybe more if your lucky. Its only really sales at certain places and a lot of sales are just price matching to other stores.

I shoot a lot of 22 on gophers and the only serious savings I've ever made buying 22 was being lucky on limited amounts at gun shows, or friends selling out a certain brand or load cause they were going to another that they found worked better for them.

I could sell you some Winchester 333 or 555 value packs for cheap but believe me, you will curse me for a long time. From experience, Aquila standard velocity and copper played hyper velocity ammo is cost effective and does very well in my CZ bolt rifles. This is my go to cheaper plinking ammo. My Anschutz has very sophisticated dietary requirements and demands expensive and Eley, SK and Lapua cuisine.

Buy a case of CCI standard velocity and you’ll be good for 5 days on the gopher fields lol. Occasionally you’ll see members selling off ammo on the EE. Worth taking a peek. Welcome from SEOntario

Check out Tenda. You can get 3000 rounds of CCI Standard Velocity, or CCI Blazer for less than $350. Or 5000 rounds for about $525.

Free shipping if you order more than $300.

It's probably one of the best deals you'll find - and CCI is decent practice ammo if you're not a competitor.

Cheers,

From experience, cheap ammo aka Winchester super x, for example, is very inconsistent in case sizes. Some rounds are easy to chamber and some are too wide and very hard to chamber so you have to use much more force to push the bolt into battery. Then there are many fail to fire instances. I had to rotate the round several time to finally ignite. The only rifle I didn't have problem with chambering was Savage mk II, those are known to have generous chambers. Ignition is still problematic. I didn't have too many problems with Rem Golden Bullets, just dirty and many flyers. This makes it hard to establish your rifle's accuracy. Federal bulk packs are some of my favourite for plinking. Also Federal automatch was pretty good but these days you pay $60 or $70 for cheapest 500 round bulk packs. I would steer clear of Winchester 22 ammo if you want to spare yourself some serious frustration.

This has been my experience also, I would not use Winchester .22 ammo if you gave it to me for free. It is way more trouble than it is worth. Federal chambers & extracts perfectly with no issues ever. Accuracy is plenty good for bulk ammo.
