I know what you mean.........I'm guilty of the same....:D

North Sylva does the CCI imports for Toronto-area stores.....:yingyang:...and they've long been saying that there's a dearth coming in. :(

Williams Arms had some the last time I checked.....but there wasn't enough interest/supply for a group buy I tried to do way-back-when...:nest:

I like the CCI blazer for plinking its around $26-27/525 at CT in calgary.I use the federal 525's for gophers though. Hollow point and accurate enough.

I got 1000 CCI Mini mags for Epps a month ago.
Ran about $9 per 100 though.
It's the only .22 ammo that fires flawlessly through my AA Kit.

I live on a border town with Michigan and cross the river all the time. They have CCI mini-mag 100 packs for $5.97 which is cheap. I just tested 6 brands out on my Savage Mako MrkII with the Bull barrel and Accutrigger and so far the most accurate is the Mini mags at 20yrds need to find time to do my 50yrd test with all the same ammo. Then I will cross the border and buy 5000 at a time. Also have 3 different .17hmr 50 packs for $13 which is cheap also.

I own and shoot a ruger 10/22 usually about 3-5 times a week and when I shoot it I usually bring some buds along and we go through about 200-500+ rounds a week EASILY. Now I buy my ammo from the local Canadian Tire as I can get the same vaule packs of ammo (525rounds) for $10 cheaper then my local gun store. I know with many centre fire rifles that once you find find a brand of ammo you like to shoot you should stick with it, is this the same with .22s? Currently I normally buy the Federal value pack.....525 rounds, hollow points, 36 grains for $20.00. latley tho they have not had them in stock so I have been buying Winchesters Xpert 22 hollows points...500 rounds, same grains for $20.00 as well. Canadian Tire also sells a few other types of ammo such as American Eagle and CCI mini mag but not in anything bigger then 50-100 rounds packs and CCI mini mag is a little expensive for the about and type of shooting I do which is just plinking all afternoon. They do carry a Remington golden bullet value pack of ammo of 500 rounds but for about $32.00. Is it worth it shoot the Remington or CCI ammo BUT I will be shooting less because of the higher price tag? Also if you know of any other good bulk .22 ammo for good prices please share.

Unless I have no reasonable alternative I don't like buying my ammo or firearm supplies from Canadian Tire. As much as I like that store I'd rather throw my business to the local gun stores. When ammo gets hard to find and supplies get low it'll be our local gun stores that go the extra effort for us. Not the big box stores who will just have a sale on bathroom supplies to make up for the lost margin. I'm not going to presume to know peoples financial situations and whether $40 extra a month means your kid doesn't play hockey or baseball this season. Canadian Tire and Walmart are cheaper a lot of the time but we can't forget about the local gun shops. There's also a safety concern. I dont really trust the kids working at Canadian Tire not to sell my information to god knows who. It was either 2 or 3 years ago where I heard of a guy in Oshawa who got broken into where the crook acquired his info from a store and knew what they were coming for.

Yea, that's a major knock on CT's record-keepings...:(

If you want to save a few dollars at a gunstore buy ammo by the case once you've figured out what ammo your firearms like. That is, 5000 rounds per case. Usually will work out cheaper than buying by the brick and it'll save you time by not having to run around for ammo every time you go shooting. I usually do this with American Eagle 38g PHP (4000 rounds/case) and CCI Standard Velocity. If I'm shopping for .22lr ammo this is what I do and I've found only gunstores will sell by the case because the Wally World's and CT's would prefer to sell by the box/brick to maximize their profits. YMMV.....
