I apologize for stating the obvious...
I shot it 5 times in the center of mass with a ruger .22 and we had to track it for a while before we found it suffering.
I made a refrence to a type of individual, unless you fit that type why would you think I called you anything.
Also there have been a number of threads on this topic if you used the search function you would have found plenty of answers to your question.
If you do infact have other calibers and shotguns why even ask, you must know its not the best caliber, why even chance it?
I stand by what I said, and if you do in fact fit my profile and are indeed using a semi auto to act out some fantasy, what would you call yourself?
Just a word of advice - the military advocates aiming at "center of mass" - hunters should aim at vitals. If aiming at center of mass on a broadside coyote you will gut shoot it every time. It takes a pretty fast and quick expanding bullet to kill a coyote quickly with a gut shot, and even "adequate" coyote rifles may not work well if you don't refine your aim!
my advice DONT! i have done that before and it didnt end well for the coyote, I shot it 5 times in the center of mass with a ruger .22 and we had to track it for a while before we found it suffering. i still feel really bad about that, i hate when animals suffer when im huntin em, except gophers lol i dont care about them.
use a REAL game gun to hunt coyotes. just my opinion.
Its clear you didnt read the whole thread before replying. Dont know what i did to provoke such hostility from you. The whole reason for asking the question was because during dear season (which i choose not to participate in) im not allowed to use anything other then a shotgun or .22. So i was debating the ethics and practicality of it. From what ive learned i probably wont. But if im out shooting squirrels during dear season with my .22 and i come across one at 50 yards or so then i probably will. The whole purpose of this thread is to learn and to teach others. Would you rather me not ask the question and go out and take pot shots off at coyotes at 250yards?? You arent contributing anything other then negativity and hostility, I guess there has to be one in every group. Thankyou to the others who actually contributed some good real life experience and knowledge.
Geez, who taught you to gut shoot animals? Your technique is unethical with any "yote" gun.
When growing up on the ranch we used .22lr out to 100yards IF you had the shot!
I would not hesitate to do it still, especially with velocitors!
then again, I don't aim for their guts either![]()
That's right and let this be a lesson to everyone. A .22lr is too weak for a coyote and a deer simply cannot be killed unless you have a minimum of a .300 WSM.....
not trying to be a weiner or anything but "dear" is spelled deer when you are referring to the animal and not writing a letter.
just for future reference!![]()
