I've been looking for a project that wouldn't break the bank and decided to build a .22LR FrankenGun as a few folks I shoot with have named it...thought I would share here as I just installed a new barrel tonight ordered from Wanstalls. Barrel is a bright red X-Ring from Tactical Solutions.
The original gun was bought off the EE, a beater Ruger 10/22 that hadn't been cleaned in forever but was jammed into the Arch Angel stock you see in the pics....trigger was awful (I mainly shoot precision rifle as my preferred discipline so call me a trigger snob if you want but something had to be done!) to the rescue comes Jerry from Mystic Precision who shipped me out a Timney replacement unit purpose built for 10/22....dropped right in smooth as butter.
Also dumped a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot on top of the rail just for the poops and giggles factor ;-)
Now as to why would you spend all that money on a .22 plinker.....well I've been working on getting my kids into the shooting sports a bit more and they are into the tacti-cool high speed low drag super ninja scuba commando stuff (Dad's old wood guns don't do it for them....maybe one day) so I embraced that while building a fun range toy in the process....pics below enjoy or have a laugh no skin off my a... ;-)
