Has anyone built a designated .22LR glock17?

Im trying to figure out if I can buy a gen 4 glock17 frame only to put an advantage arms .22 conversion on.
Otherwise I think the only option is to buy a Polymer80 Spectre 80% Frame V.1 and put a gen 3 advantage arms kit on and build the frame up with internals all aftermarket.

Has anyone done this?

I want a designated .22LR pistol to train with and all I use are glocks so id like to have a .22LR glock. If I was going to buy a factory .22 pistol it would be the M&P, but I dont want an M&P. That is my reasoning.
 
The option pc9 posted to IRG's site looks like a good deal even with the exchange etc. considering what an AA conversion kit costs(on it's own). Weighs a couple oz less than a G19 (A good thing IMO)

I had an AA kit for my G17. It shot ok when clean(150-200rnds) but became a PITA swapping it back and forth. It also made the G17 too light in the hand. Eventually sold the kit and picked up a dedicated rimfire.

The Canadian store has it listed at $425 US which is $557 Canadian right now, before taxes and shipping. Not bad at all but you COULD do better with a bit of work...

As to the OP's question; yes I've built a dedicated .22LR Glock (a G22 in my case).
Originally I had located a G22 frame and bought it but there became evident some "issues" with the frame and it's now gone.
I then got a G22 with under 50 rounds through it and then sold the complete slide to leave me with the frame I needed and put an Advantage Arms kit on it.
In the end I had $500 all in into the pistol. I got a great deal on the AA kit and a pretty good deal on the G22.

Many semi-auto .22LR pistols will be picky with ammo, the AA kit is no different. I went to the range with a whole wack of different ammo (all on the cheaper side of the spectrum) to find what worked for me and found that Remington Thunderbolts perform flawlessly, for me at least.

Keep in mind that if you build a dedicated pistol, you need to get it to a firearms verifier to have it re-registered as a .22LR, although this was easy for me in that I'm a verifier, LOL.

I just realized that the IRunGuns kit comes with 3 mags. That's a better deal than I thought. The soft case is a nice add too.

Im starting to lean on the M&P22 now.....haha
Something different..I always loved the M&P9 and struggled for awhile between the M&P9 and G17. I obviously ended up with the Glock and love it but I always shot better with the M&P.

Im also very interested in getting into IPSC and notice smiths may be a better choice than glock.

Thanks for that. I have tried many, but not them. I'll have to give them a go too. Anyone try the Bucket'O'Bullets?
 
For anyone who has a G17- is the advantage arms .22 conversion kit the same size as your factory upper?

Mine seems to fit in my G19 holsters, which gives me hope that a G17 would too.

I think the AA kit is just a hair wider than stock; it doesn't slip into my holster quite as smoothly but still fits.
