.22lr hangfires and a squib

Was out shooting my mkiii yesterday and opened a new box of federal American Eagle lead round nose and I experienced several hang fires and rounds that sounded like I quiet puff which fell short of my 15 meter target. I checked for a squib every time I experienced a quiet puff and when it didn’t cycle the action and sure enough I got one squib. I have never had issues with federal .22 but this was bad. Sometimes almost two seconds after I pulled the trigger the round would go off . I contacted federal via email to seee what they say. Lot # was 2rp133
 
dont buy lead 22lr bullets, copper plated best, lead tipped 22lr will gum up in cold weather in Saskatchewan, I run my 22lr in a tumbler to clean that grease off, gun clean , bullets clean and dry.

There are no copper plated 22LR bullets, they have a copper wash, they are all soft lead, no jacketed 22LR out there, the lead free 22LR options are copper or tin but rare and almost useless.

You have some messed up ammo, I hope Federal gets back to your soon, could be bad, especially in a semi when people just fire quick shots off.
 
I was shooting a semi. I am glad that I was aware that a squib could happen and was carefully monitoring every shot. If I was rapid firing things could have been bad because some thatbbarely came out the end of the barell were still cycling the action
 
The actions now are designed to accept so many different rounds, when they cycle subsonic you never know, CBs did not cycle my old semi but I have not tried them in my wife's Remington.

I have a bolt action, a lot less expensive :), I cannot believe how fast even 22LR is going up.
