Was just at a CT store in Calgary. The good news is they had lots of .22LR. The bad news (IMHO) was their price.
Yikes .10 a round for Remington Yellow Jackets. Seems really high to me but I usually don't buy these brands. I bought bricks (500) of a different brand at a CT only two weeks ago for about $25 each. The moral of the story boys and girls... shop around.

Yep shop around!!!!
Rem Peters .22RN 40g
$17.30 for 500
Or $1.73 for 50.
I bought 5 bricks, my friend bought just a little over 10
$42+ on a brick is crazy!!!!!!!!!

Looks like the price gouging is happening here in Canada now. Time to keep track of the gougers and boycott them, stick with the dealers who sell for a fair price. My .02

I would agree......hopefully the same thing does not happen here as it did in the states......

I was at Canadian Tire in Vegreville the other day. They had 555 packs for $25-ish (can't remember exact).

I only saw 4 boxes on the shelf though.

Supply and pricing of ammo (specificaly .22) is all over the place right now. Be carefull in claiming one dealer is gouging because he is more than a competitor. We have some overstock from last year that we are selling at the old price until it's gone however the new replacement stuff is almost 30% more. We have at least 10 different styles of bulk .22 ammo and the price is suprisingly different only caused by when we bought it as opposed to it being a better more expensive style. Shop around guys. There is a story about a certain distributor going around to retail stores an buying up some lots of .22 ammo at retail because that price is cheaper than he can get it in at distributor wholesale. Phil.

Someone should call CT head office and report that Calgary CT

On the website 333 is $16.99

So for that CT store to charge almost double what is listed on CT website is wrong and needs to be reported.

The only logically thing I can think of is that an employee put the wrong sign? If that is the case then the scanning code of practice comes in and you get the item for free or max credit of $10

I just bought 5 boxes of the Win 333; 2 at a CT and 3 at Walmart.
CT had them for $16.xx/box
Walmart was $14.xx/box
(I forget the pennies)

Unfortunately there are enough people who don't shop around and will pay those prices for the store to keep selling them at that price.
I would refuse to buy any ammo there in the hopes that it doesn't sell and they lower their prices. With so many retailers not increasing prices there is no reason to gouge customers.

Its their business if they want to be higher then Walmart, but CT pricing should be consistent between stores, if its $16.99 on the CT website, I would print it out and show it to them. I don't see how they could refuse to give it to you at that price.

I believe if they are a private store (franchise?) they can price however they want. Corporate stores would probably have to price the same as the website.
Only the older stores are usually non-corporate. I have no idea in this case.

Doesn't matter if its a corp store or not, prices are in flyers and on the website, so they have to be consistent. Its like a ladder being $40 at one Home Depot, and $60 at another Home Depot, doesn't make sense, and only hurts the store image/brand.

Is the price actually in a flyer or just the website?

As for the website prices:
Online prices and sale effective dates may differ from those in store and may vary by geographic region. Dealers may sell for less.
So the price on the website is not binding at all unless you order it from the website or the store just happens to price the same.

I agree that it is bad for their image and hurts them but they don't have to be consistent. A ladder could very well be $40 at one CT and $60 at another. If a ladder has a higher perceived value in one area because there is a ladder shortage than they can price however they want. It'll loose them customers but if they end up making more money for it they view it as a win.

I easily see how someone mixed up 333 and 555....I bought some M22 in edmonton and they had broken apart the 1000 rd box, into two smaller boxes, but were still listing the price at $54....

Online prices ... may differ from those in store
This line justifies everything. They can have any item at any price they want and the website doesn't matter.
Dealer, not dealer, doesn't matter.

I'm not saying it's right. I'm not saying it's fair. I'm not saying I agree with it. I'm just saying it's legit.

I think there are anti-price-gouging laws in Canada but I have no idea if they would apply in this case.

$35.99 for thunderbolts?xx@!!!! Thats crazy, If it was the only ammo I could find, and I still would complain about it. Here in the states I gave $40.00 a brick for blazer's on gunbroker and the next week I got a brick for $30.00. I finally found some at wal-mart golden bullet for $11.00 for a 225 pack after a year of trying to find some 22 ammo.
