I just moved so I haven't been shooting much for the last little while untill I get everything straightened away but I heard some people talking about how hard it is to find 22lr ammo. I then proceeded to look online and every website I could think of was sold out. Is it only online that 22lr is hard to find or is it in stores as well, I haven't noticed here but I will check it out this weekend. Pretty bad when you can't get a few thousand rounds of 22lr for a weekend at the cabin.

It's in store too.

All depends on where you are though. One store I frequent here in Ontario only seems to get the Winchester 222, 333 or 555 packs. They haven't had any Remington or CCI stuff in well over a year.

Yes, tough all over. We haven't had any 22's in stock at work for months now, everything is on standing order. The back order at one of our main suppliers shows "hundreds of thousands" of boxes on standing order for various stores.

Some is dribbling through and I have been able to find some here and there, but you have to jump on it when you see it.

Overall there has been an ammo shortage for a couple years now, but in the past couple of months quite a bit of our centerfire stuff that has been on standing order for over a year has been shipped/received (except 22-250 ??), plus just about all of our shotgun ammo, so maybe we are starting to get over the hump - fingers crossed.

Canadian Tire had some Remington but not much else. I was at SFRC and all they had was S&B or expensive Lapua. Had to order from Cabelas and you were limited to two bricks of Federal at $32 each or Landry CCI Mini Mags at $28 for 300. I stopped at a local store and theY had one box of 222 Winchester for $19.99 - THAT WAS IT.

High end match ammo has been available throughout the shortages much more easily than standard bulk stuff. The higher price keeps most people away. I switched to mostly benchrest 22lr shooting so I've been using mostly match ammo and haven't had a hard time finding it. Of course you are looking at $60+ for a brick and that's on the cheap end; there's a lot for ~$100/brick and it goes up to ~$250/brick. It's practically all round-nose, sub-sonic ammo. Of course it'll punch 50yd 5-shot groups as small as .20" in the right rifle so it's quite a step up from your bricks of loose Fed/Win/Rem.
