.22LR Lever Action Rifles?

Hello,

I once owned a Winchester Model 150 Lever Action .22LR rifle. I loved it to bits but had to sell it some time ago. I would like to purchase, at some time in the near future, another Lever Action .22. I like the wood stock and don't mind older rifles/carbines. I enjoy a shorter Over All Length for the carbine/rifle.

What makes and models are out there that you can recommend? Most I know can take 22S,L or LR. Are they usually around or under $500.00 for a very good example?

I just bought a Golden Boy in 22Mag. It has the octagon barrel and the action is buttery smooth. The only problem I can see is that the rear sight wanders and is only held in place by two small screws. Other wise it is a great gun. I would have liked to get the 22LR but they are hard to come by on the EE so I jumped on this one.
 
I have a henry octagon barrel in 22lr.I can not believe how smooth the action is.It is by far my favorite 22lr.Holds 16 round of lr and it will shoot shorts as well.
 
I agree with much of the above... I have four Henry rimfire lever actions; H001, H001T, H001TM and H004 GB (also have two lever centerfires; Big Boy's in .357 and .44 Mag)... they are very well built, priced very low for the quality and SMOOTH.

I would recommend the Frontier Octagon H001T... I have Skinner Black Gold Peeps on all of my Henry's and the LR's all have Lyman 17 AUG globe front sights.
 
I have 2 Henry Rifles. The Golden Boy and the Frontier. They are almost identical except that the Golden Boy has the polished brass and weights 1/2 pound more. I like the sights on the Golden Boy more. Both are great rifles, under $500 and will last a lifetime. You can't go wrong with a Henry!
 
I just picked up this Henry Carbine at the gun show in Chiliwack for $300. Marked as new on the tag, and the actual condition matches. Action is much smoother than my Rossi Ranch Hand. I already have a SR-22 and a 10/22 TD, but always wanted a nice lever.

You'll be hard pressed to find any bad reviews on the Browning BL-22, widely considered as the creme of the crop in lever .22's. Quality construction, can last a few lifetimes. Currently Cabelas.ca has grade 2 in stock for $679, and Triggers and Bows has a Grade 2 FLD for $699. Lebaron has a grade 1 for $545.
 
Question for you - was trying to find out if the Henry's are ok to dry fire? I sent that question off to Henry customer service, but have not heard back yet.

Really suprised they never answered your question. Sory to say I can't give you an honest answer on dry firing...it's something I never do to my rifles as a habit, but that being said for the number of times i have run my Henry dry not counting rounds as I shoot, I usually end up with a dry fire click after going empty. I have shot over 1000 rounds through mine with no issues and in that probably hundreds in unintentionally dry fires. Based on that I would say no worries.
 
The BL-22 is nice but I find the triggers a bit on the heavy side and it's not as easy as the Winchester or Marlin to disassemble but that is rarely necessary.

In order of preference for me would be,
Winchester followed closely by Marlin then Browning then Henry.

My 94-22 and 94-22M are jewel, they shoot great , action is flawless and they are kind of vintage... JP.
