22lr lever action?

The the 39A'a are a great gun. One of the few that will shoot shorts as well as long rifles. the BL22 is also nice. The Henrys are an ok gun but have some cheaper parts in them and I've sen a few that have had issues. If you can find one an Ithaca Model 72 (which is what the Henry was copied from) is pretty tough to beat for the $$$. I paid $175 for mine and its an amazing gun. I have a 0x redot on it and anything within 50yrds must fear for its life. Smooth and probably the nicest trigger of any of the levers (rimfire or centerfire) I've owned.

Deadman your funny:D
Try and find a Marlin model 62 Levermatic if you like clip fed gun, they have the shortest lever throw of them all, and make sure they give you all the clips they have with it as they are hard to find, hold 7 shots in clip/magazine
Winchester 94/22 are wonderful
Marlin 39's and 1897's you can't go wrong
good luck in your search! best of luck Dale in T-Bay

Do not under any circumstances get a Marlin 39A

Get a Marlin 39A
The internet is full of sorry gun buyers that have bought a 39A. The rifle is plagued with problems.
The rebounding hammer set up causes the rifle to fail to fire 90% of the time. When the rifle does fire it fails to extract and fails to eject the spent brass 85 to 90% of the time and it does not matter what brand of ammunition you use.
I had to rebuild mine right out of the box before it would shoot and cycle.

Thanks for your responses, there isn't that many diffrent lever 22lr unlike bolt guns which everybody makes. I'll wait for something on EE. Everyone seems in agrement that Win 94/22 is the best. Maybe that is what I'll wait for.

I have owned a BL-22 and a Henry. Both are great. The only reason I got rid of the BL-22 was because the Henry had really nice engraving. I did experience a jam with the BL-22 and so far none with the Henry. With the BL-22, you didn't dare try and take it appart for cleaning. And with the Henry, I can strip it completely, give it a top to bottom clean and reassemble with no problem. And I am NOT a handy man.:D

Got a Winnie 9422 that my wife decided was hers... Oh well at least it is still in the family. Would like to find a nice old Marlin 39a. Sweet little gun and you can clean thru the chamber by removing the bolt. Automatically a takedown too. Gotta get one. I had a BL22 but for some stupid reason I sold it. Too bad -was kinda minty.

My original first gun was a Marlin 39a Golden. I ordered the Mountie from SIR but they subbed it with the 24 inch barrel. I traded it. and about 20 years later, bought a Mountie off the EE. They are both great guns. I recall my friend's Model 57 and it was very good but I think he cherished mine more that his. I saw a BL22 or a 9422, and the barrel band was broken and appeared to be plastic. There is no plastic on the older
39a's. I shot a 10 shot 0.95" group with my mountie and 50 metres using CCI MiniMags.

I just picked up a 1965 39a Mountie and I love it.Was gonna be my sons but now I'm not sure...

Had a browning when I was younger that killed a pile of gophers...never had a problem with it.

I had the 39 A and a browning at the same time, kept the browning sold the Marlin. Just like the way the smaller lighter weight rifle handled over the marlin. Big plus is the browning is very accurate. FS

I have had a remington nylon 76. Not bad to short a throw on the lever. I currently have a Henry goldenboy. It is very nice to shoot. Accurate and looks good too!.

Never seen plastic on either the BL-22 or 9422. The Henry has a plastic band and a few other parts.
