Goo day all, I currently have a Ruger MkII Target and I have a co-worker that wants to buy it and was wondering what would be a good choice as a replacement for the Ruger?

I am not interested in a .22lr conversion kit for any of my existing pistols and while I like shooting the Ruger, I would love something a little easier to clean and maybe with easier loading mags.

Thanx in advance

PS. Is the Walther P22 available in Canada?

I'd Keep your Ruger. Rimfiresports .com have a little accessory for $10 that makes loading mags way easier. Actually you get 2 for $10.

As far as cleaning goes..the more you do it the easier it gets.

Only CZ kadet is a better rimfire but it also cost more than seven hundred dollors, for the money, there isn't any better gun than the Ruger rimfire pistol. Buck mark somehow are the same quality as a Ruger. I do keep your mark II.

Keep the Ruger and try a S&W M41 and/or a K22. Both are fine target shooters.... one semi and one wheelgun for the best of both worlds.

The P22 is a step backwards from the Ruger...nice little gun to learn with and that's about it.

Cleaning?

Dragonblade,

I have a new MarkIII in transit, as it seemed to be a good choice in that caliber...should be here this week. Have one of those Ruger easy loaders deals, so that's not a problem. I did read a few reviews of the difficulty in stripping them down, but looked at a few youtube vids that made it looked quite easy, with just a couple little things one has to pay specific attention to.

If I might ask, what issues did you have with cleaning? Others have insight on this?

Thx

Sell your MkII to your buddy, and get a buddy into the sport! Then use the proceeds to get a MkIII 22/45 or Hunter model in stainless steel.you'll have a newer gun that you're already familiar with, plus you just made your buddy real happy :)

There's another type of reloader that I saw on YouTube. The most amazing cheap-looking thing where you literally "poured" the bullets into the magazine. Anyone seen that in real life before?

I just found it a pain to strip and clean compared to my centrefire pistols. Does anyone have any experience with the Beretta Neos?

Very good gun for the money. I own one, and she is a breeze to disassemble and clean. The only criticism I have is that the trigger could be better.

I think the Browning buckmark is a nice pistol. I knew it the moment I picked it up in my hand. The cleaning is done with two sizes of allen wrenches. Pretty easy to take down and clean from the breech end.

I have about 10,000 round through the one I have and it seems to be working well without any problems so far.

I have my eye on another one with a finger-gripped frame and with a hi-viz sight. Fitted my hand even better than the one that I have.

Pay for quality up front and then you will never be guessing later on if the pistol could be better down the road. Saves a lot of headaches in the future and you start off with a good gun to begin with.

I will get off my soapbox now. Hope you find what you are looking for.

Cheers
