Hi Guys,

Just because I don't really want to search, could I get some recommendations on some specific 22LR Pistols? I am looking for something on the cheaper side, but still able to group pretty good at 25 yards. Please also let me know where you think I should look to source it. Just semi's at this time. Thanks for any input.

Any suggestions, where to pick these up at? Like the Ruger and the GSG, but not the Norinco.

A number of retailers sell the GSG, look in the sponsors above. I know that Armco and Dlask are both offering tuned versions with triggerwork done as well.

The Ruger is available all over the place.

+1 on the Ruger being most accurate. My 22/45 will shoot itty bitty groups using cheap Federal 525 pack ammo.

All 22 pistols will group decently well at 25 yards. Difference is trigger, sights, grip, weight and balance. You won't know al those things unless you start shooting.

As to source of your absolutely best deal - post WTB in EE. Or check out sponsors at the top of this page, but by far your fellow CGN'ers is your best source.

I recently bought my son a Mk II Target, at least 9/10 condition for $300 all in. You couldn't go wrong with this one.

sure could. I recently scored IZH35 for 425$. Comparing the price difference and what you get for your money - MkII is just plinkster while Izh won a few medals in experienced hands.

you can find a used Wather or Hammerli for around that price as well.
Personally, the Ruger MKII is a good buy and easy to find, will be more accurate then most people can shoot, you will never break it or wear it out, the triggers are good, parts are everywhere, aftermarket parts are everywhere, mags are cheap, etc etc.

General rule of thumb is to figure out what the basic/"fave" models go for (new and used) :yingyang: , and then just "hunt" around the E&E/CGN-dealers/stores/shows for a price that seems right (or, better still, "even better than right" ! :D )....

I would recommend the Beretta Neos over the Ruger and Browning Buckmark. It is accurate, reliable and most importantly extremely easy to clean. Dont disregard the last feature.

While the neos is easier to clean than the browning buckmark, and much easier to clean than the ruger, it can't touch the buckmark's trigger. If accuracy is more important than ease of cleaning, the ruger, and especially the buckmark, should be considered before the neos imho.....and we aren't even considering the esthetics here....that neos is one ugly gun, but each to his/her own.

The Ruger is easy to strip and clean once you know how to do it correctly.

The Neos trigger can be worked on. There is a ton of info on it. I have a Buckmark URX, Ruger MarkII target and a Neos 6.5". I have worked on the trigger and mounted a reflex type red dot. Now that is my go to gun for feeling good after shooting larger calibers all over the place.

Don't forget a S&W 22A. Mine is a great plinker pistol. They can be had for less money than either the Ruger Mks or the Buckmarks. I find the Neos to be a little tight in the grip for the web of my big hands

True, but just about any guns trigger can be worked on IF you have the expertise and are willing to accept the repercussions if things don't go as planned. For 50 bucks less than the cheapest neos you can buy a buckmark with urx grips, fibre optic sights and a trigger that's amazing out of the box. I've shot all 3 and own 2 of the above mentioned guns...they'd all be decent choices especially if you can overlook the "unusual"...ok ugly look of the neos....but an out of the box buckmark is cheaper and more accurate than the neos imo, and because the looks of the berreta don't appeal to 'everyone', the ruger and browning should prove easier to resell should there ever be a need. Bottom line though, all of the above is opinion and free advice....and remember, you get what you pay for!
