.22LR Pistols for Target -- Favourite?

Consider looking for an older Walther GSP (got mine here on the EE from a great guy in central Ontario), but also see them on Air Guns Plus and Tradex has had some in of late. $650-900 buys a very refined and accurate gun with comfy groups and great ergonomics, plus a head turner at the range, and mine is super-accurate.

Look for the GSP model as opposed to the OSP in .22 short. You can also get them in a .32 cal variant (non prohib by regulation, as is the GSP even though barrel length is less than 4 inches) and switch out the uppers.

Great gun and excellent value used in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing your little tricks guys. You are right, practice and patience...
About wearing my glasses, I am always hesitant. If I wear them, I of course see the target much better but don't see the sights as well. What would be your advises on that ?

Thanks

Gilbert

With my prescription (I am farsighted) I am still able to focus on the front sight just fine. I am saving up for a proper pair of prescription shooting glasses, but almost afraid to as my prescription seems to need updating every couple of years and they are pricey.

Out of my .22 pistols, my late '65 model 41 definitely gets the vote!

10 rounds on each target @ 25 yards.

Thanks for posting your targets. You have a lot of shots in the X-ring. I'm not there by any stretch, but I now have an idea of what I should be striving for.

Don't overlook the high standard victor. Since bullseye is sort of out of favor these days, the gsp's are available at bargain prices. Forget the rugers, they aren't even in the same league

Ah, but the Mosquito can't be converted to 9mm or 40 cal...

True, and when's the last time you've seen a conversion kit that was target grade capable?
I know, I've got the same SIG, but in a 220 .45 with .22 conversion kit.
If it were target grade I wouldn't be trying to sell it.:)

The only .22 pistol I have is the Kadet Kit for my CZ75. It does me good for what I do with it. I'm by no means a serious pistol target shooter though. I use it mainly to practice my fundamentals on the cheap side.

Hi Standard Victor and citaions. Nicest one was a 4.5" Victor
Had Colt match target.
Most trouble free was a hammerli 215
Shot lots of cheap ammo out of that and can't remember having one F.T.F, can't say that about any of the others.
Has a GPS, never liked it. Domino 601 is a super gun, rapid fire 22 short, recoilless.

I have used a clip on adjustable apiture??, forget what it is called, made a huge difference for 70+old eyes.
A sandbag also helps a lot when I had my own range.

Colt Woodsman –Sport Model 4 ½ inch barrel.
It is a second Series Woodsman 1947-1955---I think.

How would this Colt be viewed as a target pistol?
It belonged to my father.
