The clip loaders I've seem are a flat sheet of acrylic with a shape cut out so that it fits over the magazine with a little clearance. As you push it down towards the base it catches the mag spring control on the side. It makes it easier on your thumb/fingers when reloading as you don't have to hold the spring down with a fingertip.
22LR pistols - High Standard, Smith Wesson 41 - any love?

I shot a S@W 41 last two winters in club matches and I felt it was a good gun. As I am only startinng out in pistol shooting this was a borowed gun and about 30 + years old. the owner has tried lots of different ammo in it and CCI standard velocity is the only one that works flawlesly. I only had one stovepipe in the 1200-1500 rounds that I put through it. If I can find one and aford it this summer I will get one of my own, but it will probably be a ruger mark II-III or browning buckmark.
I have a High Standard Supermatic Trophy. Made in Hamden, Conn. It shoots much better than any of my friends or myself can shoot. The High Standard, I have will shoot a group 1/3 the size of a group from my Ruger MK.3, it really likes Fed. gold medal ammo. The High Standards are usually cheaper to buy than the S&W 41. The Ultimate Cliploader will work with High Standard mags. it also works with Browning Buckmark, Ruger Mk.3 mags. It will not work with S&W 22A mags.

The new High Standard clones get mixed reviews. I have rarely heard of any complaints with the original guns.
In my experience , (I have owned seven over the years & now I'm down to three
) they all shoot well. The Victor has the sight rib but I did not find it shot any better than my Citations or Trophy model.Used High Standards frequently are listed in the exchange forum. If you keep your eye on that forum I'm sure you will find a nice used model.
