Hi all! With the growing popularity of rimfire PRS style rifles, I am wondering how many guys would be interested in 22lr PRS style rimfire matches in southern Alberta within 1hr of Calgary. It seems lots of guys are posting pics of their wicked rimfire PRS setups however there isn't much in the way of rimfire matches right now. Hopefully this will change! Anyone that would like to get into rimfire PRS, try it out or even have a discussion about it, let me know in this thread or PM me. I am looking to gauge interest and see how many guys actually have a 22lr setup that they would like to possibly shoot a match with.
New shooters, I would like to hear from you as well and all you need to get started is an accurate rifle with a 10 round magazine. We recently invited a new shooter along for a fun match and first day even though they didn't do so well, they had such a great time and learned so much that the 2nd day they were almost placing in with the mid pack shooters! We need more of this to grow this sport, and by doing so, hopefully more people or landowners will step forward and offer more 22 matches!
Thanks,
Donnie

2-day matches could bring a few folks from Saskatoon.

Definitely a possibility. If other PRS matches continue to get cancelled, me and my associate will be looking to put on a couple more this year, and a 2 day would be doable. I had 6 extended weekends booked off for events this year but 3 of those events have already been cancelled.

Too bad. Nobody appreciates single shot rifles.
Sounds like some shooting fun otherwise.

I think people still appreciate single shot rifles, just not for this purpose. If you can load fast and make shots count, maybe you wouldn't do bad lol.

I have seen people at matches with single shots, you can enter and run the course of fire, but you won't be competitive...

a list of the scheduled matches would be on here -- rimfireprecision.ca or --- northernrimfireseries.ca

If you live in Ontario you can probably find some matches, however in Alberta or BC not so much. I'm focusing in the southern AB or Calgary area.

Hey Donnie, I'm in! It seems as though the CRPS matches might be few and far between this year depending on the restrictions, but hopefully the SAPRL dust bowl is still a go. Also, we are working on getting ORPS matches running in Brooks this season, hopefully starting in June.

We will keep you in mind for the next one. I'm surprised no one added you in the ISO group, I will send you an invite. How long have you been into rimfire?

Thanks for the invite, I've been shooting the Rimfire PRS stuff for a couple years now, and having a blast at it. I remember talking to William last year after your ISO match and was going to send you a message about this year and then got busy and forgot all about it. If your going to have more matches, I will definitely try and make it.

I’d also be interested in any .22lr prs style matches available! From Medicine Hat and just got going with my .22 rig this year. Been having a blast! With all the local club matches getting cancelled it’s getting frustrating. Crossing the fingers for the CRPS in June!

Tyler, good to hear and we will make sure we get in touch. What 22 setup are you running?

Picked up a CZ 457 Varmint Precision Trainer from Prophet River in lloydminster. Threw a pic rail up front on the fore end and topped it with an Area 419 30 Moa Rail. Just swapped out the Zeiss Conquest V4 for one of those Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25 (Awesome optic btw.) This CZ has been really liking the Lapua Centre-x or Midas +. Best group so far was 0.246 at 50 yards with a 0.41 5 shot Average. What kind of setup are you running DonnieM?

Here’s a pic to help visualize

That's a great setup! Definitely able to get the job done. I'm running the Area 419 upgraded CZ457 MTR in a Bravo stock from Go Big Tactical. Very similar to yours. My go to scope for rimfire is the Athlon Midas TAC with APRS3 mil reticle. We have lots of fun smashing targets and gophers with these setups. I might actually try one of those tuna cans in the future to see if I can dial in the spread at 350m a little better. I just shoot SK match lr ammo cause generally everything likes it. I set my daughter up with a Sako Quad and she does very well with SK match lr ammo as well.

Looking forward to getting together for some .22 PRS sometime and seeing these rigs. Those Area 419 packages are awesome looking packages! Wish I had known before setting this VPT up. But oh well! Those Athlons sure get a lot of traction and I’d like to look through a few more. The only one I’ve seen being the Midas Tac which was a nice package for the price. Also got to get my hands on some SK brand ammo to try. Heard to many good things about that brand not to give it a shot. Ugh! So much to do in this hobby!

Hey Donnie, Hope winter has treated you well! I am defiantly interested myself! Were you planning on hosting matches in between the Centerfire PRS matches? I’m guessing scheduling is going to be tough as these matches being canceled may get pushed to later dates in the summer.
