Tikka has an excellent trigger, one of the best factor triggers in the price range.

Budget friendly varies greatly from person to person, to me, CZ and Tikka are well within many people's budgets. So if you have an actual price range in mind, then specify that range.

Cz or Tikka you're looking at 800+. I bought Anschutz for less. Both my used Anschutz 64s, cost me under 600. And ones in the 1/2" club.

Savage MK II FV can be found for 250. I just had my FV out and for what I bought it for. Will serve my purpose and accuracy just well. Quickly shot some groups at 25. It avg under 1/2" and few 1/4" groups.

And I have purchased CZ rifles for under $600, a Friend paid under $600 for his new Canadian Edition 455 a year ago. As for your 25 groups, I don't shoot rimfire at less than 50m, and all of my CZ rifles averaged under 1/2" at 50m. My higher end/non budget rimfires shoot some 1/4" groups at 50m.

Didn't make the comment to compared #### size. You do you.

I zeroed this gun for 25 because it serves a purpose. The purpose was I wanted a light weight gun for off hand rimfire shoots and wanted something modern. Plus with recent diagnosis of arthritis in my neck, I get weakness in my arm. Alot of the targets are 25 yards and less, so why would I shoot and zero it for 50? I didn't buy it to be my primary gun. It replaced my Mossberg 144 that won Easter ham shoot. That was getting tricky getting parts.

Mossberg was 8.5#.. This Savage is under 7. As someone that has Anschutz's. I'm pretty impressed with the accuracy of the first time taking out this Savage.

Rimfire are lays chips. You cannot have one.

Try diff ammo, you can get it tighter.
 
1x more vote for a Savage mark 2 heavy barrel model for value/accuracy. I have had multiple $3K+ Anschutz and built CZ competition rifles that I have shot and sold as I am not competing and wanted the funds for other projects, but I just can't get rid of the old Savage mark 2s. The ones that I have had (FV-SRs and BSEV) all liked SK rifle match and Center-X even better.
 
The savage MKII FV-SR is cheap and insanely accurate with a very inexpensive bushnell rimfire scope. You can NOT beat that value imo.

Yeah these shoots we do couple times a year. You don't need a target rifle. But it's 10 to 100 yards. Various size steel targets and paper targets. Its always fun. I just keep on after 25 aim higher.

But for the value, the Savage was great. I'm glad I got the 16inch barrel. I did so it did not restrict the gun use, install a 4-12x scope. Though mostly off hand I stick with 4.
 
Can’t really go wrong with the bigger name rifles I feel . I have had great luck with a Savage A22, my B22FVSS (my current rifle I use for ORPS) and an MKii. Also had great luck with both my Ruger 10/22’s (one take down one LVT).

Also have great luck and love my CZ 457CDN (it looks great shoots great and balances great for off hand shooting.. But it’s a bit more pricey than the others and is no more accurate than the Savage B22 and most times is less accurate at 100yards.

Only issues I have run into is needing to replace extractor on my MKii and one magazine on the MKii failing. Otherwise all others have been 100% reliable and decently accurate.
 
I think the bigger question might have to do with expectations. If it is casual shooting/plinking only, a Tikka/CZ (or something more expensive) might not actually be the best recommendation. Savages will go bang all day long and have a good reputation for accuracy... so if the budget is a bit lean and you're wanting something new, you'd be well-served by one. I'd pick one of the B-22 series, and a full-length barrel.

If the budget allows, my top pick would be a Tikka T1x MTR and a close second, a CZ457 American.

For some reason, I hate when I read people say; "go handle a bunch of them/see what fits" (usually a shotgun thing) but honestly, you can't tell much from online pictures/reviews. Go handle, look at the mags, cycle the bolt, look at the fit/finish. One will probably appeal to you allot more than the others.

No semiauto recommendation in this post, but I've become a fan of the Browning BL-22 lately.
 
Without a more detailed post it’s pretty difficult for educated responses . As mentioned before, things like budjet, intended use, weight or type of sights too be used all shape the response’s.
 
Wasted Time Here. The OP has another thread on the Same topic in General and spammed G4C's contest. Gettin' pretty obnoxious . . . but I've heard that too.
 
Right now, best economy rifles (based on my experience) are the Norinco Scorpio; very accurate, nicely finished, reliable and mags are very cheap. Savage mk II, not quite as low priced, also known to be quite capable of good accuracy. Ammo, CCI STD. and Norma Tac22.

I now run Brno, CZ and Cooey for target shooting. These ammos are capable of shooting some sub MOA groups at 100 yards out of the CZ and Brno and my old Scorpio as well.
 
savage are crap have been and still are budget minded
that's fine if a person can't afford to spend money on better quality but it's obvious that trying to put budget in the same class as quality is a lack of knowledge and experience
the mk 11 was junk in the 70'and 80's and is only marginally better today
inherent problems extraction and miss fires
this is a know fact not internet info
the shop i work at see's many in for repair
