22LR semi-auto for small girl - light, compact grip - suggestions?

so, i may need to get a smaller 22LR semi-auto pistol. i have the S&W 22A-1 which i love for myself, but a certain girl needs something with a smaller grip size and less weight.

is the Ruger 22/45 the right answer? or the normal Mk.III instead? i don't have either and have only shot the Mk.II once more than a year ago. this city SUCKS for stores, so we're kinda stuck ordering online. getting spare mags would be important, and possibly ergonomic contoured fancy grips for a more stable hold for her.

it doesn't HAVE to be pink :p but if ergo grips come in pink, that might be cool. i think smaller size and lighter weight is primary for now. Ruger, Browning, GSG, CZ ($$$).

suggestions? i'd MUCH rather buy new than EE-used.
 
The Norinco M-93 is perfect for a small grip. It is inexpensive, at 150, and not only reliable bit pretty darn accurate too ! I would recommend it.

Only downside is it comes soaked in cosmoline, so needs the grips taken off and soaked in paint thinner to get it off.

normally i would, but ottawa SUCKS for stores, so i think the closest place to drive to would be Ellwood Epps.

hmm, ya, i do recall seeing it once in person. evidently small and good. mags are $40 each though which is STEEP, cuz i'd want to pick up 4 extras so that she can run through a box (50) at a time. i assume the Norc M93 isn't at all compatible with the affordable Ruger mags...
 
Take a look at a Browning Buckmark the cheapest is a Camper at about $359.00,nice little gun with a gold trigger.:D

Even if my wife has smaller hands, she loves her CZ Kadet. The gun being on the heavier side, even if it's "just a .22LR" the recoil is almost non-existant and it will eat any ammo you feed it.

It's a little more money then the others but her and I dont regret this purchase a single second.

edit: just saw you are in Ottawa, you go to the EOHC? I could let you know next time i'm out there if you want to have a look.
 
CZ Kadet - hmm, nearly $1k. for that price, i could get the Norc, a GSG, and a Ruger. if it's the same as size as a CZ75, then the size might be good but perhaps a bit hefty.

EOHC - ya, i was there today actually with her, so we (ok, SHE) shot my Rem 597 (lots, until the extractor blew out), Savage MkII, a Rem 870 w/ slugs (!!!!), the S&W 22A (lots), and the Ruger GP100 (once - found it WAY too heavy). i typically shoot at Connaught though, but today got a late start so we went to EOHC.

rifle / handgun - i think she'd find it easier with a handgun, since the 597 she was only comfy shooting from a front bag rest.

Sounds like a fun day, I was there from 9:00-13:00 also in range 1.

And I was there yesterday *Saturday" from 1120 to 1133.
Saw that the cowboys had a range and the other ranges were "Ocupado"
so I turned tail and left.

I was there this morning and a full half range to myself, sharin it with a very nice couple (rifle-people) who were later replaced by a single handgunner. We all got along marvelously. No need to RUN back and change the range flags. We kept the flag on RED all the time and communicated great when we wanted to move downrange and post or change targets.

After shooting I passed my SAIL to get some Mosquito and BlackFlies repellent.
 
ya, the only thing i DON'T like about EOHC is the long drive just to get there. but even saturday afternoon (1p onwards) it was quite busy. we buggered off at 3p to get food, then back at 4p or so and had a single pistol range to ourselves which was great cuz it was easier for her to try close shots / far shots and walk up to check the targets after only 2-3 mags. same deal - red flag all the time.

didn't have any insect issues. just the BRIGHT sun, made worse by my amber/yellow sunglasses :p
 
no 12.x here. just regular RPAL for me and no-PAL for her (at least right now / near term). she's not a kid, just on the smaller size. adult female, but finds the grip of a Glock and Ruger GP100 to be too big and unwieldly, so small-n-light is where it's heading methinks.

i'm actually seriously looking at the Ruger 22/45 and Browning Buckmark stuff since it's in the 28-34 ounce range which is probably right. certainly the Ruger Mk.III all-steel stuff is gonna be too heavy.
 
picked up a pair of Buckmarks, the ones with the fiber optic front sight and URX grips. those plus a bunch of spare mags, so should be good for some LONG days at the range!

I don't know how long you've been a member there.
During our safety orientation walk-through, Jeff, did warn us about Summer coming and that we would need "some" protection from Mosquitoes and Black Flies.
I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. (Repellent, that is.)

joined in Sept. during my safety walk-through (which was the worst on the planet), the "guide" basically mumbled to himself or to the one or two people who were within 4 inches of him. really, utterly useless moron. and then of course we had the 'test' which was related to the content that never spewed out of his lame-arse mouth.

decent range, atrocious guide.
