Most (all?) CGN sponsors currently only have very expensive (Eley) or very bad (worst Remington kinds of ammo) 22LR ammo in stock.

I am not sure for how long it have been like this, but for more than a month for sure.

Does anyone have an idea what's going on and how long it's gonna be like this

heard of the newtown shooting in the states? and who the american's president is and what he wants to do with guns?

panic buying is eating up all the 22lr, all the big company's are running 24/7 making rimfire ammo, they are back logged a year i believe.

Depends on individual consumption. Some areas have lots of people, and some areas have "thin" populations. We have lots of .22lr up here, cause there just isn't a lot of people up here. You live in Burnaby area, lots of shooters there, and a much longer season to shoot in. Does the weather ever get bad there??? (envy creeping in)

Pretty much all gun owners own a .22lr of some kind so it's by far the most universal ammo. It's also the easiest to stock up of at only ~$25/500rnds. Most people can afford to buy a couple thousand rounds when they see it on the shelf.

Panic buying causes shortages.
Shortages cause further panic buying/stock piling.
It's a vicious cycle.

Most of the US has been short of .22lr for a year now.
Some people blame Obama or homeland security for the shortages but there is more evidence that it is regular folk causing it.

It will eventually get better...There is a lot of ammo around, it is true that the CGN sponsors don't have any in stock but there are places...even Canadian tires have a good amount in stock around MTL anyways...look around. Cabelas Canada has some of my favorite in stock right now...although I hate announcing it...I'd rather you find what you need.

Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the past year or so, you should have noticed that the selection and the supply of powders and ammunition, has been very limited. This isn't expected to change anytime soon.

CT here has maybe 4 boxs of 22 shells and they are shorts and shot shells. The LGS has Thunderbolts and RWS and Rem. Gold shorts. The gunstore in Coaticook has CCI but they are way expensive so only bought a couple of boxs to tide me over till I find a better deal.

I heard of a guy in the states that whenever he walked into a store that had ammo he bought a little bit of .22 ammo ( last I heard he had 60000 round or so) so I decided to try it . In just under a year I have 12000 rounds of .22 stockpiled mostly blazer bulk pack and cci sv but some other brands also and it didn't put me out of pocket as it was basically pocket change I used to buy it all ! I've slowed down now but will pick it up again soon !

It seems to be hit and miss . I went in to the local Walmart and all the bulk pack 22lr were sold out and it has been this way since Christmas . there were quite a few small packages of 22lr on the shelve . I drove across the street to Canadian Tire , and they had all kinds of bulk pack 22lr, so I bought 4 Win. 555 bulk packs to hold me over for the time being . By the time Canadian Tire sells out , Walmart will be stocked up again......they seem to almost alternate . Although Canadian Tire did tell me that they were having a difficult time in getting their ammo requests filled.......as long as Canada can avoid the hoarding that the U.S. went through , hopefully , we be okay....

Del Selin in Vernon has hundreds of thousands of rounds. $23.95 plus tax for Federal 525 pack.

When he saw the problem on the horizon he probably bought a couple of million rounds. Had pallets of .22LR.

I saw the Federal cases of 2100 rds at Cabelas in Regina the other day........$120/case

I was tempted to grab one, but heck the last time I bought one of those it was only $90 in the land lacking PST.

I've had no problem get 22lr, Al Simmons in Hamilton usually has what I need, some of the prices have actually gone down slightly in the past few months. That being said if I do start feeling this "shortage" I'm sitting on about 18k rounds here at home, so I'm good for a while.

they must have raised them when i went a couple weeks ago, they wanted $79(maybe 69) i believe for the bucket-o-bullets from remmingtion. but i guess i've been spoiled by lebarons prices, i just stock up when they have it now that i know it shoots good. i'm just above 23k now with the recent purchase of m-22's.

Thanks for tips guys, I'll check other local stores. I used to buy from Reliable Gun, they always had all I need until recent times.
Hopefully it won't last long. I don't shoot very often, but still...

I usually pick some up at every gun show, and last week it was scarce, I hesitated on a couple bricks and they were scooped up by someone else. I'm ok for a while but don't want to get caught too short.
