.22LR Standard Velocity Bullets

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as .22LR standard velocity bullets that are copper plated? Seems like every one that I have seen only come as uncoated or solid lead. eg Winchester T22 and Federal Gold Medal Match.
 
Winchester Dynapoints are standard velocity. They are rated for the same muzzle velocity as T22 by Winchester.
 
It's not just coincidence that all top target ammo for the .22rf.(std, vel.) Lapua, RWS, Eley, etc. does not come in plated.

No, I just take my kids 11 and 15 out shooting and just didn't think it was a good idea for them to be loading mags all day with .22lr bullets that were not copper plated.

Their fingers will get dark with lead no matter if you use plated or unplated .22

Also there will be lead contamination on the magazine face from the gases when firing from the lead in the primers.

If your worried make them wear gloves, or bubble wrap...

If they wash their hands after there should not be a problem, if regular soap isnt good enough they have a special soap if i can remember called lead off or something.
 
I am pretty sure most non plated ammo is at the very least wax coated. Lead would oxidize rather quickly if it was not coated with something. I commend you for your desire to keep the kiddies safe, but maybe some Nit-rile gloves would be better?
 
But, if you want plated, go for the plated high velocity stuff. It won't make any difference to their shooting. With hearing protection, the noise is just about the same.
