22lr target pic

I have found Lapua SC to give me fairly good results out of some of my benchrest guns. Not nearly as consistant as the Match EPS ammo but still preatty good. Here are several 5 shot groups at 50...

As NormB mentioned, a standard .22cal bullet hole when shot through paper can range anywhere from about .16-.22. When I shoot groups quite often I shoot one group about an inch or so outside the group. When I go to measure the group I measure first this single hole and if it came out as beeing .207 or so (which I find is usually about normal) I subtract that from number from the group.

On some types of ammo like Eley match EPS however using correct paper I find that the diameter will come out to .223. Using Lapua superclub it is often closer to .205 or so for me usually.

That makes sense and sounds simple enough......Great info, thanks!

Ok, see now I'm just going to have to head out and shoot off a few more boxes to see if I can tighten them up :)

Do you have a link to that gauge you are talking about or how to measure the groups correctly.....thanks.

Super,
At our SORSA score matches, the scorer has a gauge which is clear plastic with .22, 6mm and .308 dia circles etched on it, with a magnifying glass above. The appropriate sized circle is placed around the bullet hole and this determines if the bullet does, or doesn't cut a scoring line. The bullet hole may not show a line being touched, but the gauge sometimes does. I think the gauge is available from the NBRSA or IBS Bench Rest shooting associations.

In this case the gauge would be for .224 dia jacketed bullets.

Another target shot today at 50 yrds. The smaller group measured .33 edge to edge so I measured a random bullet hole and subtracted .16 leaving .17 as the group measurement.

Nice groups!

you and that rifle shoot really well!

You should think about trying out the online matches that CZ452 shooter is organizing here... They're alot of fun... and I bet you beat him!

Here's another 50yrd target. This one is the entire 50rnd box of Laupa master m. I still think the gun can shoot better. The fella pulling the trigger could use more practice :)
