Isn't the point of the test facility to send your gun there and have them test different types/lots for accuracy and then you buy the most accurate one?

like saskdude99 said, very easy to do it yourself, it benefits too because you can test in relatively identical conditions to what you would normally shoot, and your buying ammo locally available to you

HMM. I've always bought one of each and shot them myself. Now with the Garmin c1 you have most everything you need.

usually the testing was done for ISU type shooters. You would send/go with your gun, it would get mounted in a fixture and test fired with various lots of ammo (even with the same brand) usually at 50m. The ammo that grouped the best would then be bought in 5000rd cases and you would save that ammo for competition.

I know Lapua has a center in the US. You send in your barreled action and they test various lots of Center X and they sell you 1 or more cases of 5000 rounds of the best performing lot for your rifle.

I didn't know we might have something similar in Canada.

They dont even need your scope. The barreled action is fixed in a vice and they shoot at 50m in an indoor tunnel.

That’s exactly why it’s done. You also will never be able to test the different amount of lot numbers and be able to acquire the best ones in quantity. Just because someone has a garmin and buys some different ammo does not compare to a tunnel with very econtrolled conditions. The action vice eliminates any human error. Velocity of match rimfire has been proven to not really have an effect on poi with the same poa. Some go high and some go low for a multitude of different variables. Most can’t or won’t bother with tunnel testing but I’ll guarantee the most precise shooters in the world do.

Xactly ...ditto

back in the day, when I used to shoot ISU in Ontario, the go to was International Imports when they were in Kitchener/Waterloo area. They offered this service. They did the same service that Lapua does as you mentioned except they expanded the brands to what they carried like Eley/RWS.

thanks for all the replies. Yes i would like to send in my barreled action , have a facility clamp it down- do some serious ammo testing - and allow me to purchase a case of the desired lot number.

Trying to ammo test various brands, levels and lot numbers is getting out of hand considering the availability of the ammo. I shoot for group sizes- 10 shot groups at 100 meters ( but test presently at 60 and 100 meters). Getting a nice calm morning is not that easy at my range .

sorry i dont need minute of squirrel head-

i was just wondering if we still had some sort of testing facility like in the US

It's a .22LR. Just buy CCI Stingers and move on.

Some get what the op was asking and some don’t. Your CCI Stangers won’t do much for you in a competitive rimfire match but I’m sure 22 Plinster will have an episode on this subject. Interesting Boltgun. I wasn’t aware of anyone in Canada that provided this service.

Unless you are a competitive shooter and are willing to buy a few case of premium ammo of the same lot..do not bother. A 5000 case cost $1800 to $2400.. and to make the process worthwhile..you need to buy more than a case of the same lot..

My late friend shot internationally a couple of decades ago.

Back then the team coach would take all the bbled actions over to the UK and Eley would test them with individual lots.

The team would then buy a large number (10K I believe he told me) of each lot that worked with each rifle...

I can't imagine that any of the manufacturers would entertain you unless you were wiling to buy such quantities regardless of where they are located.
