22LR that looks like centerfire handgun options

i vote GSG great bang for your buck . i find the Browning to be much to small for my personal liking. although the smith and wesson .22a1 sport is cheap, doesnt have the same good looks as its only the half rail, i have had great accuracy with it.

Sig Mosquito at $430 looks good

Keep in mind that the Mosquito isn't full size. I think it's 85 or 90% size of a P226. My girlfriend has one, and while it fits her hand well, I find it's quite small for me.

I'll add a +1 for the GSG 1911. I have one, as do a bunch of my shooting buddies, and none of us have had a problem with them. Accurate, reliable and quite reasonably priced. Hard to beat 'em!

CWAccessories have just put their skeletonized slides prices on their web page. Not available in Canada (yet ?) but made from aluminum, intro cost about $190 US. Pricey but if the OEM stock wears or breaks after warranty period, it would be a consideration.

Finally! I've been waiting to see how much they were gonna be. $190 is a bit pricey but, then again, it sure would be nice to have a reliable red dot sight. ;)

Too bad they don't ship to Canada and there is currently no Canadian distributor, at least not that I'm aware of. :(

Not what you asked for but there are some pretty sweet surplus Beretta mod 70's floating around in your price range. Cool little .22lr with a reputation for reliability.

Actually I guess it does qualify as there are centerfire versions as well.

Because of our dumb barrel laws most have protruding barrels but the word on the web is new replacement 4.2" barrels will be on the market soon.

i think you might want to try a smith & wesson mod 17. very accurate looks like a mod 14 (38spl) .but you run the risk of contracting s&w revolvers accumulators' disease ,they are like potatoe chips you cant stop at just one . s&w revolvers hold their value and are easy to sell, should you change your mind
or if it has to be an auto the 22a is very accurate and well under 400 including tax and a box of ammo. ive had one for a few years with no issues .comes with 2 steel mags.

Under $400 seems to be important to the op.... I can look past the high caliber part and chalk that up to media influence.

Colt's .22 conversion unit for the Gov't Model (1911). No issues with any of my three versions. Eats bulk Federal or anything else and says "Please sir, may I have some more?"

S&W Model 17. Classic rimfire wheelgun in a "real gun" package, nobody does it like Smith and Wesson. Holding one makes you want to smoke a pack of Luckies and save a dame from some bad guys. Worth every penny even if people say they are expensive.
