Umarex / IWI UZI .22 LR Rifle and Pistol

Umarex USA are importing .22 pistols and rifles patterned on the famous UZI machine gun. The guns are manufactured by Carl Walther in Germany but are branded IWI (the official UZI manufacturer). There are two models. The rifle model modeled after the UZI carbine and includes a folding stock and faux suppressor. The pistol model is modeled after the Micro UZI machine pistol.

Both models include 20-round .22 LR magazines.

Pricing has not yet been finalized. They expect that the UZI pistol will retail for around $480 and the rifle will be about $645.

What's the length of the rifle version?

As far as I can tell the only "reason" they would have to make it prohib is the name (UZI prohibited by name through OIC.) Maybe if they called it somthing else for Canada we can get it.

Eg: C-UZI, snUgZ-lI :)

I doubt Walther used the same type of open bolt blowback action as a real UZI.

Looks like they did the same thing as they did with the colt/umarex/walther 1911 and engraved-painted a novel allover it. Why do they do that bull sh t?
Made by Carl wather for colt. Imported by umarex USA for use by .....
For Christ sake!

Functions the same as .22lr semis that have been around 100 years~of course the RCMP thinks we'll all lose our collective minds if they "allow" us to have them. Great system we have here.

While I wouldn't buy one either way, I really would like to see anything .22lr (except full-auto) be non-restricted. I shoot .22lr through rifles every weekend, every year yet can't shoot the exact bullets from a pistol in the same place. Ridiculous. I'd like to see a system in place where those with a PAL (and no offenses) would be eligible to own a .22lr pistol after 5 years.

No, the coffee wasn't spiked this morning. :) If that were to become a reality, some CGN sponsor would get a $500 sale the next day from me. Only victim would be my wallet and some apple juice cans.

Me too. It'd be nice to be able to go gopher hunting with my .22LR Sig and M&P15-22. And I'd buy the rifle version of this thing in a heartbeat.

I'd have no problem with full-auto .22s being non-restricted.

I was thinking a change that might be in the realm of possibilities... :) (yah I know, as if) The day the RCMP allows full-auto, they'd probably restrict rimfire mags to 5 rounds on the same day.

In the interest of full disclosure, one of my "dream" guns is an American 180. Not even sure I'd shoot the damn thing, but would love to own one. To depress myself every month or so, I go on gunbroker to see if any are listed there. More often than not, there are one or two up for grabs.

And would they also have our six-shot and nine-shot and ten-shot cylinders plugged/cemented down to only five chambers?
