Just got an email from Paul Switzer to let me know that he thinks I won some of my absentee bids on .22's at the auction. He has been in for surgery so won't be in the office until next week to confirm.
Damn, now I'll be wondering all weekend what's coming - like a late Christmas.

Some of the best buys of the day were the older .22s. There were LOTS of Cooeys, singles and repeaters. The 75s seemed to go for $35-$45. IIRC a nice old Mossberg single shot went for $35, don't recall a Mossberg, Marlin or Winchester going for more than $90 or so. A JW-15 went for $140, so at half the price the others were a much better deal. I was really surprised that the reblued 1900 Colt .38 Rimless/Smokeless was the highest ticket item at $2500. The near new Rem. 870 at $160 was also a deal. Win. 94s, Rem. 760/742s sold high, which I guess is what you should expect with a lot of hunters in the crowd. A 742 .280 carbine went for about six and a half. The Rem. 710s didn't go begging. Guess the buyers didn't frequent this site.

So I didn't get the Norinco - my max bid was $125.
Did you see what the Stevens 44, 25-40 went for? And the Brno #1?

The Brno 1 I inspected looked reblued, and the beech stock had probably been redone. I'll dig out my program and double check on the JW. The Stevens had a respectable looking bore, but had been drilled and tapped on the left side of the barrel for a Weaver .22 scope in sheet metal mounts. The forend had been notched to clear.

You guys are awsome! Thanks.
I had a bid in on the Stevens, I knew I'd be too cheap. I bid just in case no one else wanted it.
I probably won the Brno #1 - they have been known to screw up on the absentee bids.
Didn't get the Norinco JW15 - put a low bid in just in case it went cheap. They are only $159 from Marstar.
I also bid on the 1210 JGA Sporter, 1191 CIL model 125, 1212 Marlin 56 lever, 1231 Winchester 67A and 1253 the NEF sporter -cheap bid just in case no one wanted it.
When I absentee bid, I bid low enough that it's a deal and if it turns out to be a piece of crap, I can flog it and I'm only out $50 or so.
I find if I want to pickup some Cooey's, it's best to be there to pick the best.

The Chinese SKS had a peep sight installed, and the lugs for the bayonet removed. About a hundred and a half. No bargain.

I picked up a couple guns, one of them a Cooey .22, they were going so cheap I had to. Picked one up for $40, as did ~45 other people. There were a couple of good deals on the other guns, but not many. I can't believe the prices people were paying for Rem 710's.. people fighting over crap rifles.
