234 Wildcat Family....ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Man.... I have a northern timberwolf hunt booked this year.... so many options here..... douglas, not only did you steal the bsa in 243 I was gonna pick up for something different to bring with me but now you have me thinking about something truly unique!

^.
Hope yer right 'bout them hoped for vel's, Douglas.
200fps, that is quite a lot to be under eh?.

that "max." parameters .. be considered at least two firings from virgin brass ... 'afore the primers start falling out from gravity alone ???.

Oh!, the suspense.

Hear 'looky's been known to shoot low on occassion ...

SB.......I'll see what I can do about getting you a 234 of some sort for your wolf hunt........possibly a Douglas. Might that be something you be interested in? Just a lend kinda deal probably, but I'd like to see some wolves terminated with the 234. If you want a lighter barrelled rifle (cause the Douglas is gonna be 28" heavy barrel) That would be the Hyrax with a 26" lighter barrel. If you have a buddy who reloads, I can legally send you brass, dies and bullets, along with complete load data, for 50 rds for your hunt. You will have to pick up powder and primers is all and follow load data. Then try out before the hunt to confirm scope settings. It should be a laser for the first 400 mtrs anyway...........wolves get pretty tiny much beyond that..........

Thanks for the generous offer douglas but I have a thing about borrowing guns.... a purchase may happen, you never know.... I hunt wolves on cut lines and overlooking fields with a group... we push 'em so heavy barrel is not ideal... got my reloading setup together so reloads with cases and bullets provided would be no issue.... I am guessing the cost of a rifle build may be prohibitive though... saving for a bigger goal and would hate to get sidetracked....

SB..........I get what you say about borrowing rifles, but I would like to get as many shooting the 234s as possible, get the word out so to speak..........quite a different situation, and it won't be fancy, just on a Marlin X7 action and a flat finish stainless barrel in a plastic stock. Certainly nothing you could harm..........besides if there is a bunch of you doing this it would also be more exposure of the caliber, AND you'd have the coolest wolf rifle in the pack........................

Hmmmm..... hunt is in january.... I will keep in touch.... thinking hyrax?

Actually.... it occurs to me that doug is only an hour and a half away easy driving.... If the rifle was here I would be more than happy to drive it to kingston for a day so he could shoot and reload for it.... wager that would be right up his alley....

Now you're thinking along the right avenues...............let's get the word out, a preview shoot to the 23 Jamboree, for you and Doug.........Actually SB, you could play with it for a while and then move it along to Doug and he could shoot it for a while and then return it on his western journey to the 23 Jamboree and points north.....

Hmmmm.... maybe whack a few yotes for practice.... would you be willing to accept a boyd's stock for the build douglas?.. maybe a nice checkered pepper laminate with the calibre laser etched into the stock?..... woukd be the least I could do.....

Any assistance is always appreciated, SB............where exactly would this caliber laser etching be located? On the pistol grip cap would be cool, not too gaudy or gauche, and could be filled with black paint to stand out..........would also show up nice in a rack.........

Ok... is the xl7 the desired action of choice?.... I think its a good one.... would be willing to get the stock this week.... thinking its a good one... I do some trigger time and reload time with doug if he will have me then take a few critters from hare to timberwolf and pass it on to doug for further testing.... stock is pepper lam for now (more to come on choices) and I would be more than happy to dish out for extra bullets from Marshall...

Works for all.... I get to hunt with a cool caliber and spread the word and the rifle will be non plastic (I dont do the plastic thing)
