24 inch barrel for waterfowl??

Okay, I think I might get the Baikal. I just want a cheap semi auto that will shoot 3 1/2 for geese still. The remington 870 express super mag I have has killed lots of ducks and geese, however its starting to malfunction and jam occasionally and I am going to retire it I think, or trade it in, and I wanted a cheap alternative and I found one of these baikal 24 inchers for less than $500 so I figure that should work.

Yup, your not coming with me either. Sure you can do it, but your hunting buddies won't like it. Neither should your dog be exposed to that.

no dogs unfortunately. usually just jump shoot from shore then throw the canoe in to retrieve the ducks. its definitely not pleasant to shoot without good ear plugs, but it works just fine until i can buy a longer barrel for birds. Its great for the little mud holes we hunt since there is a lot of bushwacking between ponds. little barrel never gets caught on brush and if anything gets stuck in the barrel a short branch will push it out.

I have the mp153 never have problem with the 3.5" as long as you stay away from the remingtons they are slightly longer than others.

This topic have been cover extensively at shotgunworld forum go there and search under the Baikal forum.

I use a cylinder bore 25 inch barrel when hunting from a sinkbox. modern loads with plastic wads make chokes unecessary.
