I may get out deer hunting for a couple days and I have some 240gr XTPs in sabots hanging around. They shoot good enough but do they preform well enough on deer at a max 100 yards with 100grs of Black Horn. I could go to 150grs of powder but it's not pleasant to shoot.

Thanks

I've been shooting deer with the 240gr XTP's for years (though, out of my .44 magnum rifle)

They fly somewhere around 1700 fps and they pass through and through at 100 yards. Never recovered a bullet (and never lost an animal either)

240 gr XTP from my friends savage ml has been dropping deer for the last 10 years. At under 150 yards they are more than fine.

Been using the 240XTP with two Pyrodex or Triple 7 pellets for years with great results.

For quite a number of years that's the only real choice a person had in sabots. They do work for sure but there are many better bullets out today if you start pushing velocities.
