240's in the 300

I think I will get some and try them in my 308, I already load the 220 grain Sierra RN with great success.

Thinking about it, there is no reason why the 240 gr Woodleigh would not work well on North American big game when loaded to the velocity potential of a .300 Magnum, or for that matter even a fire eater like the .30-378. When Woodleigh determined the velocity recommendations for this bullet, the purpose was for use on Asiatic buffalo, which are even bigger bodied than their African cousins. That being the case, they would wanted to balance expansion with penetration, and that they probably discovered that optimal reliable penetration/expansion ratio occurred with a maximum of 2400 fps. Given a possible expansion of .75" the .308/240 simply outclasses any other .30 caliber bullet for close- medium range use on very big game.

I will admit it is an intriguing bullet especially out of my 20" 30-06 I just don't know if it is needed here...

69grs H1000 clocked 2650 fps @ 10'

point of impact was 2" to the right of my 200gr Accubond load @ 100 meters, but same elevation

I think this will work :)
