I'm not a huge fan of the .243 but after watching the "Shoot beyond belief" videos I have changed my mind, somewhat. These guys are firm believers on hitting the target and letting the bullet do the work from there on. So in keeping with this theme I do believe that hitting a mulie or even an elk from 400-500yds with a .243 with a well placed shot one can be successful at harvesting game. Accuracy is the key.
On the other hand I am also a firm believer that bigger is better so I would personally stick with a .30 cal
