I have a box of these 243 Cal 126gr Chinchaga bullets they are made for a 1 in 8 twist barrel. Has anyone tried these, I'm looking for info on powder weights for this combo. Thanks Bill

Quickload is a great tool for coming up with load predictions for Wildcats, works well for the Ackley stuff too, bought the program to compliment my 25-06AI.. glad I did.

The problem you will run into is that your looking for loads for an odd bullet weight for 6mm, and for an Ackley Improved, a combo I'm sure not too many have tried. I was able to enter 25 cal Chinchaga bullet measurements into QL and got great results.

Bill - Have you talked to Dale about this weight? I know he shoots a 6mm and he may have built these with that case in mind. I don't know if he shoots a .243. There doesn't seem to be anyone using more than 115 grs in a .243 Ack. At any rate I see a load of 47.5 grs of RL25 with moly coated 115's. I'd maybe start in the 40-42 gr range and see how that works. I've shot some of Dale's in my 6-284 but I don't think I've tried any in my 243 Ack and I haven't tried that weight. Next time I run into Dale I'll ask him what he had in mind for that weight. Let us know how you make out, it could be interesting.

I talked with Dale at the Burns Lake shoot, he said he uses them in a 243WSSM. He had no info for the 243 Ackley. As suggested I may use the info from the 115gr and drop down a bit. I'm hoping to push them into the 2900-2950 MV range.

Bill - I think that velocity should be reasonable. I got this off the 6br site. They show the 115's at 3150 with RL25. They also show the COAL at 2.860 so I would think you'd be well into the lands depending on throat length. I would assume that's why he uses moly. Are you planning to shoot these at 1000 yds?

I'm going to try them first at 300Ms, if the groups are good then I'll move it out. I'm not rechambering at this time , so they are seated very deep at present.
Dale said he was working on another bullet around 115gr for hunting purposes. Should make a great deer cartridge.

In the real world, I did a quick ladder test today for velocity and pressure signs. Using H4831, 10 shots, starting at 2790 and going up to 2930 mv.
At 2930 there are no pressure signs, so I will move it up a bit more 2950 or possibly 3000 depending on accuracy.
All 10 shots today went into a group of 0.691 and 8 of them were one ragged hole of 0.377 @ 100Ms, so it appears this combo is going to work.
