Building a F Class on a Remington 700 action. Kreiger barrel to arrive shortly.
Does anyone have experience with this chambering and who would you recommend do the work.

I know where you can buy a JGS reamer for $150.00 if you're interested. It was likely only used once maybe twice at the most.

Would you consider going with a smaller case?

I built a shorterned 243AI to headspace off a 22/250 case. Pretty much an 6XC with a bit more powder capacity because of the sharper shoulder and reduced body taper. Worked quite well. The reamer was not a perfect fit to the dies I wanted to use but the design showed promise.

The issue with the 243AI is the amount of powder you will burn. Barrel wear is going to be brisk. Also, depending on the twist, the bullets may not like going as fast as the 243AI can push it.

There have been a few variants that seem to be doing very well for the owners. 6mmBR.com in their 6mm forum. Was a 243AI with a longer neck and pushed DOWN shoulder to reduce case capacity slightly.

The designer claimed very high bore life using H1000. Haven't kept up with the thread for some time but worth checking out and gaining some insight.

Should be a lot of fun. Enjoy...

243 win

I would go with the standard 243 Win, case capacity is enough. This caliber has done well in LR shooting (1000 mtr), and saves a lot of wear and tear on the barrel(no fire forming).

If I was inclined to build for a cartridge other than the 6BR, I would go with a stamdard 6mm Remington as a first choice. Regards, Bill.

Back about 1972 I had Sam Elliott make me a 6mm 250 Savage Improved reamer with a 30 degree shoulder. I thought that might be a good one to try... I have never built a rifle with it... and it is a beautifully made reamer.
