I purchased a new rifle, 22" barrel in .243. The twist is 9.125. Not wanting to waste a lot of time on trying to work up loads, I am wondering whether any of you handloaders out there have found ideal bullets/loads for this twist.

I have Nosler (55, 80 and 90 spitzers), Hornady (75 v-max, 75 HP and 100 BTSP) and Sierra (75 HP).

My powders are IMR 4064, 4350, 4895 and Win 748.

Anybody know which will be best with this twist to at least point me in the right direction?

Thanks

They will all work just fine. With that twist you can go as heavy as the speer 105's and should be able to shoot as light as 70's with out any trouble. I like either 4064 or 4831 in my 243's. 4831 loads are all compressed and you can't put enough in to reach maximum loads in my old loading book.

I have had pretty decent results with H4895 and 55 grain nosler BT55s. And H4350 was good with the 87 grainers.
In same twist barrel.

My 1:10 .243 Lilja stabilizes most bullets up to 100 grs, and round nose bullets up to 105, but it sucks with long match bullets. If you intend to shoot 107 gr MKs or some of the heavy weight 115 gr VLDs, you will probably need 1:7, but not for bullets usually chosen for a hunting/varmint rifle. The longest match bullet I can use with confidence is the 95 gr Lapua.

Well I'm loading up a 243 this afternoon....for the first time. Hornady 100 gr sp interlock and I use the IMR 4064 with my 22-250, and it is deadly accurate in that, but with the way smaller 36 gr Barnes Varmint grenader. I see the load for the 243 is 33-36.5. Anyone use this? The cal's are so close...It's for deer. I see you can use the IMR 7828 as well, that's what I use in my RUM. Thoughts?

Not trying to hijack....
