.243 bullet choices?

I have a friend that has shot out a 243 in just over 800 rounds, now these guys may call bs on this but hey most people will never shoot 800 rounds out of there 243.

I don't dispute the 800 round life. I have afriend in the UK who had to rebarrel his Sako after no more than 1000 rounds but as always heat is the real killer. He shot max loads with 70gr Nosler BT's but the real damage was done shooting it at a military range without allowing the barrel time to cool. After shelling out over £500 for a new Border barrel you can bet he doesn't shoot it like that anymore. I doubt the 55gr bullets are much worse than say a 70gr load but they do tend to use a bit more powder, so will in my view be harder on a barrel.

You also need to listen to advice with a grain of salt.
When guys on 6mmBR talk about barrels burning out they are
usually talking about groups opening up from .2 to a half or three
quarters of a minute.Accuracy like that which may not be acceptable for benchrest
is still plenty good enough for hunting.
