would like some feed-back of hunters that have USED the BARNES VOR-TTSX ...80 GR on deer ..i have shot numerous deer with WINCHESTER .95 gr. SUPREEME BALLISTIC SILVERTIP ...also used WINCHESTER 100 gr POWERPOINT on deer with good results ..my choice for the BARNES bullet for hunting is to get away from lead contamination ...

I use the 85 gn tsx in my .243 and they work just fine. I have never recovered a bullet from this combo but I did recover a 120 gn tsx fired from my .280 rem into a blacktail deer as it was quartering away. The bullet mushroomed perfectly and retained 119.2 grains.

With this kind of perfomance in combination with the worries about lead contamination I am pretty sold on the tsx bullets.

I load the 85 TTSX or 80 GMX for the kids... They are VERY effective... Good results on deer, excellent penetration and very little meat damage... But I do load them fairly soft... No need for max loads under 300 yards... All of our shots are under 200 yards...

These loads are also very good for coyotes, which is nice when a shot presents itself... They do remarkably little pelt damage.

I use 80 TTSX and have killed several deer, loaded hot in my .243. Ditto little meat damage and never have recovered a bullet.

Do you load these in a H&R 243?
I am just starting load development with a super light,100gr SP first.RB

Yeah, the kids are shooting Handi .243's with the GMX... I shoot the BT's from mine. Also load these in some bolt action rifles, but the Handi's are longer in the throat with no magazine restriction on OAL, so I can seat the bullets out further when I want the extra zip... which I do when I load the 58 VM's for coyotes.
