.243 Light weight / accurate suggestions??

light 243

I love the 243 win and have 3 right now and my son has a gorgeous Mod 7 CDL in 243. One very sweet little 243 I had a while back was a Ruger RSI fairly light but so short it was handy and felt lighter because of the compactness and balance. Great little cartridge and easy to load for and all mine have proven very accurate with some load developement. No end of options out there in this cal. only limited by finances.
If you want super light start with a titanium action then a light taper, fluted 22" bbl and a Brown 14oz. stock, a Pacific Tool and Guage speed firing pin with alum bolt shroud and voila you have a 5 lb rifle. Just did this build in 300 WSM on a 700Ti action, the 243 would be a touch lighter becuase of lighter barrel contour. I put a 3-9 leupold compact on it and with shells in it is 6lbs. Cost is about $4000.00 with scope.

No one has yet mentioned a Model 70 featherlight, so I will.
Mine will shoot 1" groups consistantly at 100yds with 70 gr noslers. Never tried it at two hundred. Probably won't be as tight as Mr. Jordans. But the coyotes end up just as dead.

The Featherweight has a wood stock, he wants synthetic. Though a nice rifle, by today's standards it's not really that light either.

Caliber: 243 WIN Handed: Right
Rate of Twist: 9.25 Weight: 6.5
Overall Length: 41.75 Barrel Length: 22

Pretty easy to change barrels on after, a little faster twist than most.

I wanted the exact same thing you're looking for. I got a Kimber 84m Montana in .243. Talley ultralights with a Nightforce NXS2.5-10. Shot a few factory rounds through it right away, nothing impressed me. I was hoping to be able to shoot 95VLDs as in thinking the 105s is really asking too much out of that 1 in 10. I was actually going to send it away for a new barrel right off the hop in 1 in 8, but decided to play with this one first. It may just surprise me! Just waiting on rings to come in and I'll throw the NF on.

Seeing that the thread is 4 yrs old, I'd say it's a safe bet he is no longer looking lol.
