243 muzzle break

Same as above. Breaking a .243 is like sticking a govener on a Volkswagen beetle.
Is it a medical condition you need to reduce recoil for?

To thread and install a break on a rifle can run from $250-$400 depending on who does the job.

I had a shrewd varmint brake put on my .243. Total cost including installation was $200. I put it on so I could see the gophers explode in the scope. It is a very nice gun to shoot (recoils like a 22lr), but my varmint hunting buddies don't like it very much even when they are wearing hearing protection.

Remington 700 VTR has an extremely effective muzzle break.
It is available in:
  • 223 Rem
  • 22-250
  • 243 Win
  • 308 Win

I have the 243 Win model and even if the effective barrel length is 20" it is an extremely good varmint rifle as you can self-spot even thru a 24X scope!
Recoil is very low (223 Rem level) and they're is no muzzle jump.

I had a brake installed years ago on my 220 Swift and it is a real pussy cat to shot and i am not missing any action in my scope as the jump is minimal... JP.

I agreeas well, no need to put a break on a 243. I`ve installed about 20 breaks, most where on 300 wm and 338 wm. Did one 270 it was like shooting a 243 but man alive get the ear muffs on, even for the shooter.

i have a 264 win mag with a boss accurizer, acts like a break. had a hard time figuring out weather or not my jack russell got back to the car before the bullet hit the groundhog!
